Their is one good opportunity for Operations Head ( Manage Multiple Plants ) with our Packaging client based in Mumbai .

Location: Mumbai (extensive travel across plant locations)

Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer

Role Summary The Head of Operations will own end-to-end plant operations for combined manufacturing network — everything outside Sales & Marketing, Finance, and HR. This includes Production, Logistics, and Customer Service delivery directly, with the Procurement & Planning function also reporting into this role. This is the single largest operational mandate in the organization and a core lever in the overall turnaround.

Product range spans folding cartons / mono cartons, litho-laminated cartons, and pharma-grade flexible packaging, serving clients across pharmaceutical, FMCG, and export segments.

Key Responsibilities

Plant & Production Operations

- Own end-to-end plant operations across all five manufacturing plants — from production planning through dispatch.
- Ensure achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets, and drive optimum utilization of machinery, manpower, and capacity.
- Monitor production schedules against customer delivery commitments; identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
- Improve machine uptime, throughput, and overall equipment effectiveness; establish and maintain production SOPs and operational controls.

Productivity & Operational Excellence

- Drive continuous improvement across manufacturing — reduce wastage, rejection, rework, downtime, and changeover losses.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing / Kaizen / 5S / TPM practices where relevant, and lead root-cause analysis for recurring operational issues.

Quality

- Ensure consistent adherence to customer specifications and quality standards, working closely with QA/QC to reduce rejections and complaints.
- Build a strong culture of accountability for quality across production,



with effective CAPA and root-cause discipline.

Planning, Procurement & Delivery

- Oversee the Procurement & Planning function (direct report) — ensuring raw material availability (paperboard, inks, adhesives) is aligned with production schedules, with zero stockouts.
- Work closely with Sales and Customer Service to translate orders into achievable production plans, and own outbound logistics and dispatch — targeting OTIF/OTD performance above 99%.
- Proactively flag capacity constraints, material shortages, and production risks.

Cost & Maintenance

- Drive manufacturing cost optimization — control material consumption, wastage, overtime, and utilities; develop and monitor plant-level operational budgets.
- Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance systems are effectively implemented to minimize breakdowns; support CAPEX proposals and capacity expansion initiatives.

People, Safety & Systems

- Lead and develop the production, planning, maintenance, and quality teams; build a high-performance culture with clear accountability and measurable KPIs.
- Ensure adherence to EHS, statutory, and factory compliance requirements across all plants.
- Build and harmonize operational systems and processes across largely informal systems.
- Provide regular MIS/dashboard reporting on production, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost to senior management.

Requirements

- 15+ years in manufacturing operations, ideally within folding cartons, flexible packaging, labels, or allied packaging industries.
- Engineering degree/diploma preferred; robust packaging industry experience valued equally.
- Proven track record turning around underperforming plant operations — efficiency, wastage reduction, OTIF/OTD improvement.
- Experience managing multi-plant, multi-location manufacturing operations.
- High ownership and willingness to travel extensively; low-ego, hands-on operating style given the lean team structure in the early phase.
