Mission of the Role
As Key Account Manager, your mission is to turn every studio Gravity signs into a long-term, growing partnership. This is a specification-led, consultative role: you will spend as much time educating and advising on product as you do selling it, growing accounts by specifying Gravity's full basket to the designers within each studio and solving the operational problems that quietly cost studios money and credibility with their own clients. This role is for someone who would rather go deep on fewer relationships than wide across many.
What You'll Own
1. Account Ownership
Take ownership of studios handed off by the Area Sales Manager onboarding, first order, and steady-state growth and own revenue and margin for your portfolio.
Build a working picture of each account project pipeline, category mix, key stakeholders — within the first few weeks, so you're managing with real context, not just order history.
2. Specification-Led, Consultative Selling
Promote and specify Gravity's product basket directly to the designers and project teams within each studio, not just the purchasing contact — this is a specification role first, a sales role second.
Run a regular relationship cadence — site visits, factory visits, product sessions — so you become the studio's trusted, first-call contact rather than one more vendor.
3. Category Expansion & Account Growth
Introduce new categories as they launch to grow wallet share, drawing on cross-category fluency to credibly expand beyond what an account already buys.
Track account-level profitability and run quarterly account plans that set a clear, deliberate growth path for each relationship rather than opportunistic upsell.
4. Specification Tracking & Market Intelligence
Track specification progress for each account — what's specified, what's pending, what's likely to convert — so nothing stalls without a clear next step.
Monitor competitor activity and pricing, and feed market and studio-side insights back to the product and category teams so they shape what Gravity builds, not just how it sells.
5. Pain-Point Solutioning & Escalation Ownership
Diagnose real studio pain points — like being unfairly blamed by their own clients for vendor delivery delays — and position Gravity as a single point of accountability across categories.
Own escalations on delivery, quality or billing within your portfolio, coordinating directly with Hub and Operations to resolve them fast.
6. Adoption & Enablement
Drive studio-side adoption of Gravity's digital catalogue and ordering tools, so the relationship scales beyond manual coordination.
Train studio staff on new products and categories as they launch, keeping your accounts ahead of the curve rather than catching up to it.
What We Are Looking For
Qualifications: Graduate; Architecture degree or MBA preferred. 10–15 years of relevant experience.
Core experience: Proven experience in specification selling or consultative account management — promoting and specifying products directly to architects, interior designers, builders and contractors,
not primarily transactional or order-desk sales. Comfortable owning revenue and margin (P&L;) for a defined portfolio of accounts.
Industry background: Home Improvement Materials, Laminates, Hardware & Fittings, Surfaces, Modular Kitchens, Quartz, lighting, Wall panels or related industries — or equivalent experience working inside a design studio as a designer or in a studio-facing commercial role.
Category fluency: Experience specifying or selling across more than one solution category (for example, modular kitchens, Quartz, hardware, switches and lighting) is a strong plus — this breadth is what lets a Key Account Manager credibly introduce new categories into an existing account.
Design fluency: A genuine understanding of how studios work — project pipelines, BOQs, specification processes and client pressures — gained either as a trained architect or through direct studio experience.
Working style: Patient and relationship-first, with strong problem-solving instincts; able to diagnose a studio's operational pain and design a fix rather than simply pushing product. Comfortable being measured on account health and growth over time rather than new-logo volume.
Location: Based in Bengaluru, covering East Bangalore (HSR Layout, Whitefield, Sarjapur).
Why Join Gravity?
This is a rare chance to build the studio relationships that anchor Gravity's growth — not managing a fixed book, but growing it deliberately as Gravity's category footprint expands. You'll work closely with the Studio Go-to-Market team and the Area Sales Manager who feeds your pipeline, with real ownership over how your accounts grow and genuine input into the product and category roadmap.
