A Head of Steel Melting Shop (SMS) oversees end-to-end production—furnaces (EAF/Induction), LRF, and casting (CCM)—to drive quality, yield, and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

- Production & Optimization: Manage operations to meet tonnage and specifications, reducing tap-to-tap time and optimizing charge-mix (sponge iron, scrap).

- Quality & Safety: Maintain metallurgical standards (ISO) and strictly enforce environmental/safety (EHS) protocols.

- Team Leadership: Guide and train engineers and technicians.

Qualifications & Skills

- Background: 7-10 years in steel manufacturing (EAF/IF, LRF, CCM) with a B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering.

- Technical Expertise: Proficient in alloy steelmaking, maintenance coordination, and SAP.

- Leadership: Robust team management and troubleshooting abilities.

This senior position typically reports to the Plant Manager or Director of Operations.
