Company Description

NEOEPC LLP is a Mumbai-based multi-disciplinary engineering firm focused on delivering EPC projects without unnecessary bureaucracy. The team's engineers average 15 years of field experience across Process, Mechanical, Piping, E&I;, Civil &

- Structural, and HVAC, working in an integrated manner rather than in isolated disciplines. NEOEPC serves industries including Oil &
- Gas, Refining, Petrochemicals, Specialty Chemicals, Pharma, Renewable Energy &
- Utilities, and Food &
- Beverage. The firm uses established engineering tools such as Hysys, PRO/II, ChemCAD, HTRI, PV Elite, E3D, SP3D, CAESAR II, STAAD Pro, and Tekla, ensuring seamless collaboration with client teams. From feasibility studies through commissioning support, procurement, and construction management, NEOEPC operates as an engineering partner responsible for end-to-end project quality.

Role Description

This is a full time hybrid role for an Instrumentation and Control Engineer with 6–7 years of experience, based out of NEOEPC's Mumbai office with flexibility to work remotely. The role involves designing, specifying, and reviewing instrumentation and control systems for EPC projects across NEOEPC's core industries, ensuring compliance with project requirements, standards, and safety regulations.

Day-to-day responsibilities include developing control philosophies, loop diagrams, and I/O lists; preparing technical datasheets; reviewing vendor documentation; and supporting integration of instrumentation with process, mechanical, and electrical systems. The engineer will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to perform control system calculations, participate in hazard and operability studies, and provide support during installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

A key part of this role is owning the SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) database for assigned projects — not just working within it as a user, but configuring, structuring,

and administering it so the wider team can work off a single, reliable source of truth. The role also includes contributing to project schedules, maintaining documentation, and providing technical input during design reviews and client meetings.

This hybrid setup requires someone who can work independently on remote days, take ownership of deliverables end-to-end, and stay coordinated with a distributed multi-disciplinary team without needing close supervision.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain Instrument Index, I/O List, Instrument Data Sheets, Loop Diagrams, Cable Schedule, and JB Schedule in SmartPlant Instrumentation
- Configure and administer SPI project databases — domain/plant hierarchy setup, reference data, reports configuration, and user access management
- Prepare and review control philosophies, cause & effect diagrams, and control narratives
- Size, select, and specify field instruments (flow, level, pressure, temperature, analytical)
- Support PLC/DCS/SCADA architecture definition and logic development in coordination with automation vendors
- Review vendor documentation, data sheets, and technical bid evaluations
- Participate in HAZOP, SIL/LOPA studies, and provide instrumentation input for risk assessments
- Coordinate instrumentation interfaces with Process, Mechanical, and Electrical disciplines to resolve clashes and ensure design consistency
- Support installation, testing, loop checking, and commissioning activities
- Maintain accurate, version-controlled project documentation and contribute to project schedules

- Represent instrumentation discipline in internal design reviews and client-facing meetings

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or higher in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related discipline
- 6–7 years of relevant experience in instrumentation and control engineering within EPC environments
- Strong skills in Control Engineering and Process Control for complex industrial systems
- Solid Electrical Engineering knowledge relevant to instrumentation power, wiring, and interfaces
- Experience in Control Systems Design, including PLC/DCS configuration, logic development, and system architecture
- Expertise in Instrumentation, including selection, sizing, specification, and calibration of field instruments
- Must have hands-on experience handling both the User and Administrator functions in SmartPlant Instrumentation — including Instrument Index, I/O List, Instrument Data Sheets, Loop Diagrams, Cable Schedule, and JB Schedule, along with database setup, configuration, and maintenance
- Experience across sectors such as Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Chemicals, or Energy is highly beneficial
- Familiarity with relevant international standards and codes (e.g., ISA, IEC) and industrial safety practices
- Proficiency with engineering design and documentation tools, and the ability to work effectively with remote, multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, clear technical communication, and the ability to manage tasks

What NEOEPC Offers

- Hybrid working model with a senior, experienced engineering team
- Exposure to multi-industry EPC projects (Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Pharma, Renewable Energy)
- Ownership of discipline deliverables rather than siloed task execution
- Direct collaboration with clients and cross-functional engineering teams
