Student Innovation & Incubation | FoundersLab | HyderabadAbout the RoleFoundersLab is looking for a dynamic and entrepreneurial Incubation Associate to lead and manage student innovation, entrepreneurship and incubation activities across partner institutions.
The role will be responsible for building a strong innovation pipeline among students, identifying promising ideas, supporting student founders through validation and prototyping, and helping promising ventures progress towards incubation, market launch and startup formation.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working directly with students, faculty, mentors, startups and industry stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities1. Lead Student Innovation Programs
- Drive student innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives across assigned institutions.
- Conduct and coordinate ideation, design thinking, innovation and entrepreneurship activities.
- Identify high-potential student ideas and nurture them through structured innovation journeys.
- Build an active pipeline of student innovators and potential founders.
2. Manage Pre-Incubation & Incubation
- Guide students from idea → validation → prototype → business model → MVP → market testing → startup.
- Support student teams in customer discovery, problem validation and market research.
- Help teams develop Business Models, Value Propositions, Pitch Decks and Go-to-Market strategies.
- Track progress of incubated teams and ensure timely milestones.
3. Mentor & Enable Student Founders
- Conduct regular mentoring sessions and founder clinics.
- Help students identify gaps in their ideas, technology, business model and execution.
- Connect founders with relevant mentors, industry experts, investors and ecosystem partners.
- Encourage students to participate in hackathons, competitions, grants and startup programs.
4. Build Innovation Culture on Campus
- Work closely with faculty coordinators,
IIC/EDC/IDEA Lab teams and institutional leadership.
- Develop a culture where students actively experiment, build prototypes and pursue entrepreneurial opportunities.
- Plan innovation challenges, hackathons, startup bootcamps, demo days and pitch events.
5. Manage Innovation Labs & Resources
- Support effective utilisation of IDEA Labs, incubation centres, maker spaces and other institutional innovation infrastructure.
- Ensure student teams have access to appropriate mentors, resources and technical support.
- Coordinate with technical and industry experts for prototype development.
6. Startup Development & Ecosystem Engagement
- Identify promising student ventures for formal incubation.
- Support teams in accessing startup schemes, grants, competitions, accelerators and funding opportunities.
- Build relationships with local startup ecosystems, industry partners and investors.
- Facilitate Demo Days, Investor Connects and Industry Connect programs.
7. Program Management & Reporting
- Maintain a database of student ideas, innovators, prototypes and startups.
- Track KPIs including:
- Ideas generated
- Ideas validated
- Prototypes developed
- MVPs launched
- Startups incorporated
- Students trained
- Mentoring hours
- Competitions/grants accessed
- Revenue/market traction generated
- Prepare regular progress reports and presentations for institutional and FoundersLab leadership.
Desired Candidate Profile
- 1–4 years of experience in startup incubation, entrepreneurship development, innovation management, student programs,
accelerators or a related field.
- Strong understanding of Design Thinking, Lean Startup, Business Model Canvas and startup fundamentals.
- Excellent communication, presentation and mentoring skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of programs.
- Strong networking and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Comfortable working with students, faculty, entrepreneurs and industry professionals.
- A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with a strong bias towards execution.
