About You and this Role

As the HR Manager for India and the Middle East, this role serves as the regional subject-matter expert responsible for guiding, advising, and influencing business leaders across both regions. Reporting directly to the Director, People, this position ensures an aligned HR plan that balances global priorities with local market realities.

Working in a matrix structure, you will serve as the regional HR anchor, providing deep market expertise across workforce planning, total rewards, and talent management. You will work in close partnership with local leadership as well as global Centers of Excellence (COEs)including People Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and Talent Development, to translate global strategies into seamless regional execution. This role balances strategic advisory work with a hands-on approach to HR operational delivery within our 5 day on-site office model in Bangalore.

This role has a high level of autonomy in operating in conjunction with the other leaders in India to set strategy and make policy as needed to support the business.

Key Objectives

Regional HR Leadership, Strategy & Coordination

- Serve as the regional subject matter expert to advise, influence, and guide leadership on workforce planning, headcount modeling, organizational design, and team structures across India and the Middle East.
- Lead and support a continuous change agenda advising on decisions to drive employee success.
- Ensure that HR issues are given full consideration in all decision-making.
- Create and maintain a structured, high-touch onboarding experience for all regional new hires.
- Partner closely with global COE’s including People Services, People Business Partners, Talent Acquisition and Talent Development to align regional talent plans with global functional strategies.




- Lead local employee engagement initiatives and advocate for Liferay’s core values, and vision.
- Provide advice, information, and support to local leadership, acting as a trusted counsel on all employee relations and operational matters.

Recruitment

- Manage the regional talent acquisition process end-to-end to build a strong talent pipeline, ensuring recruitment standards in the region are maintained at the highest practicable level and are professional and rigorous.
- Support, communicate, train, and advise the management team on recruitment initiatives and interviewing techniques.

Compensation, Benefits & Total Rewards

- Serve as the regional authority on Total Rewards, staying abreast of market data for salaries to assist with compensation planning and benchmarking across India and the Middle East.
- Advise and guide management on competitive pay structures, benefits design, and retention strategies to attract and retain top tech talent.
- Work closely with regional finance and global People partners to align compensation recommendations with regional budgets and global frameworks.

HR Operations, Systems & Compliance

- Focus on the continuous improvement of HR processes and procedures across India & Middle East
- Oversee regional HR operations and adopt key HR systems (e.g., payroll, performance management, expenses) ensuring alignment with global standards.




- Report and analyze employee data through HR systems to help drive informed management decisions.
- Function as the regional expert on local labor regulations, statutory compliance, and employment standards in India and the Middle East.

Required Qualifications

- 8+ years’ experience in an HR capacity, ideally within a multinational software or technology company.
- Deep knowledge of India labor standards, compensation dynamics, and benefits frameworks
- Proven track record as a regional expert advising on workforce planning, total rewards, performance management, and organizational design.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with global COEs (PBPs, TA, Talent Development) in a matrixed environment.
- Proven experience in HR systems.
- Experience in relocation and expatriate management.
- Robust verbal and written English communication skills to collaborate effectively across international time zones.
- Ability to work on site 5 days a week in our Bangalore office.

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of employment regulations and HR practices in Middle Eastern markets (e.g., UAE).
