We have been mandated by a large conglomerate into manufacturing and EPC business for the below mentioned role .

Job Purpose :

The SCM Capex Head will own end-to-end capital expenditure procurement for the Gigafactory covering cell production equipment, module and pack assembly lines, formation and testing systems, and all balance-of-plant items. The role is directly accountable to the CFO and CEO for capex delivery on time and within budget.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Capex Procurement Strategy

- Own end-to-end capex procurement for the Gigafactory — cell production equipment, assembly lines, formation/testing systems and all BoP items.
- Define and execute vendor identification, RFQ, technical evaluation, commercial negotiation and contract award for all capital equipment.
- Develop a deep understanding of the global Li-ion cell manufacturing equipment landscape — coating, calendering, winding/stacking, electrolyte filling, formation and ageing systems.

2. Import Strategy & Compliance

- Own import strategy for capital equipment from China, Korea and Europe; manage customs classification, duty optimisation and EPCG scheme utilisation.
- Ensure PLI scheme requirements are met in the localisation roadmap.
- Coordinate with legal and finance teams on import documentation, LC management and payment milestones.

3. Civil, MEP & Infrastructure Procurement

- Oversee civil and construction contracts,



MEP works and utility infrastructure procurement in coordination with Plant Engineering and Project teams.
- Review BOQs, scope of work documents and contractor proposals; ensure value for money and technical compliance.
- Enforce contractual obligations on delivery, quality and warranty from all vendors and contractors.

4. Capex Tracking & Governance

- Maintain a live Capex tracker covering commitments, POs, delivery schedules, payment milestones and budget variances.
- Report Capex status, risks and forecasts to CFO and CEO on a regular basis.
- Manage procurement records in ERP (SAP or equivalent) with full audit trail.

5. Vendor Management

- Develop and manage a qualified vendor base for critical equipment categories; conduct regular performance reviews.
- Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering and Plant Engineering Heads to align equipment specs, site readiness and installation timelines.
- Manage cross-cultural vendor relationships with Chinese, Korean and European equipment OEMs.

EDUCATION

- Master's in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering; MBA preferred.
- Background in capital procurement for large manufacturing or energy projects essential.

EXPERIENCE

- 15–20 years in capital procurement and supply chain for large-scale manufacturing or energy projects.
- Prior experience in Gigafactory, semiconductor, power plant or petrochemical capex procurement strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of managing high-value international contracts with global OEMs.
