About Organisation

Tata Power runs four electricity distribution companies (Discoms) in Odisha through a public-private partnership with the state government. Formed as 51:49 joint ventures between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, these utilities supply reliable power to nearly 10 million consumers across the state.

The Four Odisha Discoms

- TPCODL (TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited)
- TPNODL (TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited)
- TPSODL (TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited)
- TPWODL (TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited)

This Position will be based at TPCODL (TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited) Job Purpose To manage litigation filed by and against the company and implement the legal strategies finalized by Seniors to safeguard the financial losses out of litigation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

Making strategies to get the favorable orders from judicial/quasi-judicial bodies /forums /commissions /tribunals etc.

Briefing Advocates/Senior Advocates on various legal/litigation matters for obtaining the opinions, seeking clarifications on legal matters, coordinating for litigation and filing of cases in the courts.

Briefing the case facts to the Advocates/Law Firms and coordinating with them for effective pleadings and court hearings.

Preparing facts sheet on the disputed matter and accompanied with the relevant Judgements.

To keep track and day to day follow up of cases.

Maintain legal files, documents and records.

Drafting of Plaints, Written Statement, Applications, Complaints, Notices, Replies, Rejoinders, Affidavits, Counters, Writ Petitions filed by or against the Company.

Drafting, Vetting, Reviewing & Finalization various types of Contracts, Agreements, MOU, Non-Disclosure Agreement, Leave & License, Power of Attorney, LOI, Indemnity Bond, Agreement to Sell,



Sale Deed, Lease Deed, Commission Agreement, Service Contracts, Vendors and various types of Labour Agreements, Maintenance & Support Services Agreements etc.

Drafting & Vetting various documents originating from different Departments of Organisation and incorporate protective clauses wherever required. Drafting & Vetting of pleadings to be filed in legal cases.

To draft & coordinate to lodge FIR/Police Complaints against the consumers who are indulge in theft of electricity.

To draft & coordinate to lodge FIRs/Police Complaints against the persons who misbehaved/manhandled with the employee of company when they were carrying inspection to detect the theft of electricity and provided all the assistance to police Investigating officer for filing charge-sheet against accused/ culprits.

Monthly Legal statements (MIS) of all cases for updating the Management about the progress of cases.

Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Civil Procedure Code, Evidence Act, Consumer Protection Act, Electricity Act, RTI Act, Legal Service Authority Act, Negotiable Instrument Act, Arbitration & Conciliation Act.

Educational Qualifications

LL.B. (3 yrs.course)/ LL.M./ LL.B. with Integrated 5 yrs, course and MBA will be an additional advantage.

Experience - 20+ years of experience

Knowledge & Skills

LL.B. (3 yrs.course)/ LL.M./ LL.B. with Integrated 5 yrs, course and MBA will be an additional advantage.

Should have basic knowledge of Electricity Laws with court practice at District Court/High Court/Supreme Court will be preferred.

Ability to expertly communicate within group/department as well as to external forums/judicial/quasi-judicial/Commissions/Tribunals etc.

Valuable communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts effectively.
