Job Summary and Major Responsibilities:

- Participates in the operation of a medium size design group in a discipline. Requires knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, SP3D, 2-D and 3-D CAD, reading of drawings and reproduction methods.
- Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews engineering work:
- - Equipment layout design and development
- System layout design, including concept sketches and detailed layouts
- Reviewing and checking designs, drawings, and data by other or by suppliers
- Preparation or review of engineering studies and reports
- Preparation or review of material quantity estimates
- Fully experienced in use of 3D modelling software (SP3D, E3D, PDS etc). Monitors and checks work for compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy.

- Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management. Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly. Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.
- Facilitates technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators) and coordinates with client representatives to obtain approval on phases of work.



Makes decisions concerning problems within the discipline and represents the discipline on the project and with the client as directed.
- Coordinates assigned engineering work with other project groups.
- Reviews design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors and prepares comments and recommendations. Assists in preparation of forecasts, quantity take-offs and change orders.

Education and Experience :
- A recognized degree in Mechanical engineering or scientific discipline, OR
- Specialized courses in Mechanical engineering practices, and CAD, AND
- 13 to 20 Years of experience as Piping Layout Engineer, should have led a team of 3 to 5 piping layout engineers & designers on projects.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials.
- Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria and codes.
- Knowledge of Design Guides, mathematical formulae, and design calculations.
- Experience of 3D/2D drafting tools.
- Positive working knowledge & experience of SP3D is a must for this position.
- Experience of other 3D modelling tools like E3D, PDS, REVIT/ BIM, CADWORX, AUTOPLANT 3D will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of engineering systems and calculations, applications of engineering methods and construction methods and materials, and application of computer aided design tools to engineering design. Experience of working in sectors like Power, Oil and Gas Projects. Experience of Cryogenic Piping or LNG piping will be an added advantage.
