Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Platform Solution Architect to join a large-scale enterprise data transformation program. This role requires a seasoned architect who can quickly understand an existing, partially implemented data platform, assess its current maturity, identify architectural gaps, and define a clear roadmap for future evolution.

The successful candidate will provide architectural leadership across Azure Synapse and Databricks-based platforms, working closely with engineering teams, business stakeholders, governance teams, and enterprise architects to ensure scalable, secure, and business-aligned data solutions.

This is a hands-on architecture role requiring active participation in delivery, technical decision-making, migration planning, governance design, and platform modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Assessment & Architecture Leadership

- Rapidly assess and understand the current state of the enterprise data platform across all layers.
- Analyze existing implementations, identify architectural gaps, and define improvement opportunities.
- Establish and own the target-state architecture aligned with business and technology objectives.
- Create architecture roadmaps supporting current delivery needs and long-term platform transformation.
- Define architecture principles, standards, design patterns, and governance frameworks.

Solution Architecture & Platform Design
- Design enterprise-scale data platform architectures from source ingestion through analytics and reporting.
- Define scalable integration patterns, data flow architectures, and consumption strategies.
- Establish architectural standards for batch, near real-time, and streaming data processing.
- Design governance frameworks covering lineage, auditability, data quality, metadata, and compliance.
- Support platform modernization and migration initiatives across Azure and Databricks ecosystems.

Azure Synapse & Databricks Architecture
- Architect solutions using Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, and Azure Databricks.
- Design Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) and Lakehouse-based data platforms.
- Define transformation, orchestration, and governance patterns using Delta Lake and Databricks capabilities.
- Design migration strategies from traditional data warehouses or Synapse environments to Databricks Lakehouse.
- Implement architecture patterns supporting scalability, performance,



governance, and cost optimization.

Governance & Enterprise Standards
- Define enterprise-wide standards for data governance, lineage, metadata management, and quality controls.
- Collaborate with governance teams to establish audit-ready controls and compliance frameworks.
- Support implementation of Unity Catalog, Azure Purview, and enterprise governance solutions.
- Ensure data platform architecture aligns with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.

Engineering Collaboration & Technical Leadership
- Provide hands-on guidance and mentorship to Data Engineers and technical teams.
- Review solution designs, code, and implementation approaches.
- Support architecture reviews, technical decision-making, and design governance forums.
- Identify risks, dependencies, technical debt, and mitigation strategies.
- Drive architecture best practices across multiple workstreams and delivery teams.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Analytics, or a related discipline.
- 12+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or Enterprise Data Platforms.
- Minimum 4–5 years of experience in a Data Platform Architect, Solution Architect, or Enterprise Architect role.
- Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale cloud data platforms.
- Strong experience with Azure Data Platform technologies and Databricks Lakehouse environments.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
