Location: New Marine Lines, Mumbai

Reports To: Head of Investments / Director

Employment Type: Full-Time

Function: Core Investments Buy-Side Portfolio Management & Research

About the Role

We are seeking a sharp, analytically rigorous Investment Analyst/Associate to join the Core Investments team of our Family Office-led NBFC on the buy side. This role sits at the heart of our principal investing activity sourcing, evaluating, structuring, and monitoring investments across a diverse set of instruments and asset classes, primarily within India, with scope to extend to select global opportunities. The ideal candidate combines strong fundamental and quantitative analysis with fluency in AI-enabled research tools, and can translate complex, multi-asset investment data into transparent recommendations for the Investment Committee and family principals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Investment Research & Due Diligence

- Originate, screen, and evaluate investment opportunities across public and private markets equities, fixed income/credit, alternative investments, and structured products
- Conduct fundamental research, financial modeling, and valuation analysis (DCF, comparables, precedent transactions) across sectors
- Lead/support due diligence on private deals — management assessment, business model evaluation, legal/financial document review, and risk flagging
- Build and maintain investment theses, scenario analyses, and sensitivity models for existing and prospective holdings

2. Portfolio Management & Monitoring

- Track performance of the existing portfolio across asset classes; monitor covenant compliance, credit events, and corporate actions
- Maintain a live portfolio dashboard (Power BI/Tableau or equivalent) covering exposure, concentration, liquidity, and risk-adjusted returns
- Recommend rebalancing, entry/exit, and hedging strategies based on macro, sector, and instrument-level developments

- Prepare investment committee notes, board presentations, and periodic portfolio review packs

3. Diverse Instrument Coverage

- Build and apply working expertise across a broad instrument set, including:
- Listed equities (large/mid/small-cap, sector rotation strategies)
- Fixed income & credit — G-Secs, corporate bonds, NCDs, structured credit, private credit
- Alternative Investments — AIFs (Cat I/II/III), PE/VC funds, InvITs/REITs
- Private/unlisted opportunities — pre-IPO, growth equity, secondary transactions
- Derivatives & hedging instruments where relevant to portfolio risk management
- (Optional/Global exposure) select international equities, global funds, and cross-border structures, subject to regulatory permissibility
- Maintain instrument-level trackers with return, risk, liquidity, and tenor comparisons to support asset allocation decisions

4. Macro, Market & Regulatory Intelligence

- Monitor macroeconomic indicators, interest rate trajectories, sector cycles, and geopolitical developments affecting portfolio positioning
- Track regulatory developments (RBI, SEBI, FEMA, IRDAI where relevant) impacting NBFC-led investment activity and escalate material changes
- Leverage AI-powered research tools (ChatGPT Enterprise/Copilot, Perplexity Finance, AlphaSense, Bloomberg Terminal/AI features, Daloopa) to accelerate synthesis of research, filings, and market intelligence

5. Documentation, Compliance & Stakeholder Coordination

- Maintain deal files, investment memos, term sheets, and supporting evidence in line with internal controls and audit requirements

- Support internal/external audits and regulatory examinations with organized, prompt documentation
- Coordinate with Legal, Risk, Treasury, custodians, fund administrators, and external advisors on deal execution, documentation, and settlement
- Ensure strict confidentiality given the sensitive, principal-capital nature of the mandate

Candidate Profile

Experience

- 2-5 years of relevant buy-side, sell-side research, or investment operations experience within an NBFC, family office, AMC, PE/VC fund, wealth management firm, or similar principal-investing environment
- Demonstrated exposure to multi-asset investment analysis, portfolio tracking, or private deal due diligence

Qualifications

- Postgraduate degree required — MBA (Finance), M.Com, or equivalent in Finance/Economics/Commerce
- CFA (any level) strongly preferred; candidates pursuing CFA will be given preference
- CA is an added advantage but not mandatory for this buy-side research-focused role

Domain Knowledge

- Strong grounding in valuation methodologies, financial statement analysis, and Ind AS/IFRS reporting standards
- Working knowledge across diverse instruments — listed equity, debt/credit (NCDs, structured credit), AIFs, private equity/credit, InvITs/REITs
- Understanding of family office structures, principal investing mandates, and capital preservation-oriented decision-making
- Primary focus on the Indian markets and regulatory landscape, with working awareness of global markets/instruments considered a plus

Technical & AI Skills

- Advanced MS Excel — financial modeling, scenario/sensitivity analysis, macros, pivot tables
- Hands-on comfort with AI-powered research and analytics tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, AlphaSense, Bloomberg AI, Daloopa)
- Working knowledge of BI/visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent)
- Exposure to Python or SQL for data automation is a strong plus
