We are looking for a CMF Designer – Eyewear who can shape how eyewear looks and feels through the thoughtful use of color, materials and finishes.
You will work across frames and lenses to develop distinctive color palettes, surface treatments, material expressions and finish directions for our products. Your role will sit at the intersection of design, fashion, materials, manufacturing and consumer relevance.
You will translate trends, collection concepts and brand/product directions into commercially viable CMF directions, working closely with eyewear designers, suppliers and cross-functional teams to take ideas from concept to production.
What will you work on?
- Develop color, material and finish directions for eyewear collections across frames and lenses.
- Create color palettes and CMF concepts that align with collection narratives, consumer preferences, brand positioning and market trends.
- Explore and develop different surface qualities and finishes, including gloss, matte, translucent, frosted, metallic, gradient, pearlescent and other relevant treatments.
- Develop lens color and lens-effect directions, considering how lens color interacts with frame color, material and overall product expression.
- Research emerging trends in color, materials, finishes, fashion, interiors, automotive, technology and other relevant categories to identify new CMF opportunities.
- Create CMF boards, color palettes, material references and detailed product specifications to communicate design intent.
- Work closely with eyewear designers to integrate CMF into overall product and collection design.
- Collaborate with sourcing, manufacturing and suppliers to assess material availability, colour matching, finish feasibility and production constraints.
- Translate conceptual CMF directions into production-ready specifications, ensuring consistency between the design intent, sample and final product.
- Review samples and prototypes, identify deviations and work with relevant teams to refine color and finish.
- Build and maintain a CMF library of colors, materials, finishes, references and supplier capabilities.
- Help evolve Lenskart's CMF language across brands, categories and collections.
Who will you work with?
You will work closely with Eyewear Design, Product Intelligence, Category, Merchandising, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Brand and Supplier teams.
The role requires you to move comfortably between creative exploration and the practical realities of bringing CMF concepts into production.
What you bring
- Bachelor's / Master's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Accessory Design, Materials Design or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in CMF, product design, fashion, materials, accessories or a related field.
- Strong understanding of color, material and finish.
- Strong visual and aesthetic sensibility.
- Understanding of how color and material behave across different surfaces and materials.
- Ability to research and identify relevant color, material and finish trends.
- Robust attention to detail and ability to identify subtle differences in color, texture and finish.
- Ability to communicate design intent clearly through moodboards, color palettes, material boards and presentations.
- Interest in understanding manufacturing and material constraints.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with designers, suppliers and cross-functional teams.
- A strong curiosity for how materials, color and finish can change the perception and desirability of a product.
