Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced BI Lead to support a strategic SAP HANA to Snowflake Data Platform Modernization initiative. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Business Intelligence, enterprise reporting, semantic layer modeling, and analytics platforms.

The BI Lead will be responsible for assessing the existing BI landscape, including IBM Cognos and Tableau, identifying report dependencies, validating semantic layer compatibility, and defining the reporting migration strategy. This role will collaborate closely with Business Stakeholders, Data Architects, SAP HANA SMEs, Data Engineers, and Program Managers to ensure reporting continuity and analytics modernization throughout the migration journey.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess the existing Business Intelligence landscape, including IBM Cognos, Tableau, dashboards, reports, and semantic models.
- Analyze report dependencies on SAP HANA tables, views, Calculation Views, and stored procedures.
- Perform impact analysis to identify reports and dashboards affected by the migration.
- Evaluate Cognos Framework Manager models, Tableau data sources, and semantic layers for compatibility with Snowflake.
- Define report migration, validation, and reconciliation strategies.
- Develop report inventory, dependency matrices, and migration sequencing plans.
- Validate business KPIs, metrics, calculations, and reporting logic between source and target platforms.
- Perform report performance assessment and recommend optimization opportunities.
- Collaborate with Data Architects, SAP HANA SMEs, and Data Engineers to ensure reporting requirements are incorporated into the migration strategy.
- Facilitate business workshops to understand reporting requirements and validate migration readiness.
- Prepare technical documentation, assessment reports, and executive presentations.




- Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide technical guidance to BI and reporting teams.

Required Skills

- Robust experience with IBM Cognos Analytics, Cognos Framework Manager, and Tableau Desktop/Server.
- Hands-on expertise in SQL, semantic layer modeling, dashboard development, and enterprise reporting.
- Experience in report dependency analysis, impact assessment, and reporting migration projects.
- Good understanding of SAP HANA, enterprise data warehousing, and Snowflake.
- Experience with data validation, reconciliation, report performance tuning, and business KPI validation.
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and Agile delivery methodologies.
- Strong analytical, stakeholder management, presentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- IBM Cognos or Tableau certification is preferred.
- Experience working on enterprise data warehouse modernization or cloud migration initiatives.
- Exposure to Snowflake-based reporting environments is an added advantage.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.

Project-Specific Expectations The BI Lead will support the migration assessment by:

- Conducting a comprehensive assessment of Cognos and Tableau reporting environments.
- Identifying report dependencies and validating semantic layer compatibility with Snowflake.
- Defining report migration, reconciliation, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) strategies.
- Assessing report performance and recommending optimization opportunities.
- Collaborating with business users and technical teams to ensure reporting continuity.
- Producing implementation-ready recommendations, documentation, and migration assessment artifacts.

Nice to Have

- Experience with Power BI or Microsoft Fabric.
- Exposure to Snowflake Cortex, AI-powered analytics, or Tableau Pulse.
- Knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Prompt Engineering for analytics.
- Experience implementing BI governance frameworks and self-service analytics.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams.
