As a seasoned Product Manager, you will be a strategic leader in the development and evolution of our native AI-driven products within the US healthcare payer landscape. You will be instrumental in bridging cutting-edge AI capabilities with critical business needs, ensuring our solutions deliver significant value to members, providers, and internal operations. Your deep understanding of healthcare payer dynamics, coupled with extensive AI product development experience, will drive innovation from concept to market.

- Strategic AI Product Leadership: Leads product strategy for a portfolio of interconnected native AI products, ensuring alignment with Highmark's overarching vision, digital transformation goals, and a proactive approach to leveraging AI for competitive advantage.
- End-to-End AI Product Lifecycle Management: Accountable for the entire AI product lifecycle, from ideation and discovery of AI opportunities through model development, integration, deployment, and ongoing optimization within a regulated healthcare workplace. This includes deep involvement in data strategy, ethical AI considerations, and technical feasibility assessments.
- Cross-Functional AI Orchestration: Responsible for coordinating all aspects of AI product management across diverse internal teams (e.g., Data Science, Engineering, Clinical, Compliance, Legal, Marketing, Operations) and external partners. Ensures seamless integration of AI solutions into existing healthcare payer workflows and platforms.
- Business & System Integration for AI: Manages complex business and system integration efforts specific to AI/ML models, data pipelines, and intelligent automation, ensuring robust, scalable, and secure deployments within the payer ecosystem.
- Specialized AI Product Portfolio: Products and programs will explicitly include AI/ML-driven applications such as predictive analytics for risk stratification, personalized member engagement platforms, intelligent automation for claims processing, clinical decision support systems, fraud detection, and generative AI applications for content and service optimization.
- Advanced Initiative Management: Manages high-impact initiatives involving internal AI development teams, external AI vendors, and research institutions, ensuring successful delivery of new AI products and capabilities from ideation through launch and post-launch refinement.
- Principal AI Subject Matter Expert: Serves as a primary consultant and thought leader for AI product management, educating stakeholders and advocating for the strategic adoption of AI across the organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

- AI Opportunity Identification & Validation: Proactively identifies and champions opportunities for developing innovative native AI products that address critical pain points and unlock new value within the US healthcare payer domain. Conducts in-depth research, feasibility studies (technical, ethical, regulatory), and evaluates the administrative and implementation complexities of AI solutions.
- AI Project Leadership & Execution: Leads complex AI product development projects from conception to deployment,



employing agile methodologies tailored for AI/ML development. Successfully meets ambitious business objectives while navigating the iterative nature of AI.
- Advanced Market & Technology Analysis: Performs comprehensive market research and competitive analysis, specifically tracking emerging AI technologies (e.g., Generative AI, Large Language Models), industry trends in healthcare AI, regulatory landscape shifts (e.g., FDA guidelines for AI/ML, HIPAA for AI), and the capabilities of AI vendors.
- Strategic AI Roadmap & Vision: Drives the development of the AI product strategy and roadmap, ensuring strong alignment with Highmark's long-term business goals, digital strategy, and ethical AI principles. Articulates a compelling vision for how AI will transform healthcare experiences.
- Data-Driven AI Product Optimization: Establishes and reviews key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics specifically for AI models and applications (e.g., model accuracy, drift, bias, latency, business impact). Uses data-driven insights to iterate on and continuously improve AI product performance and value delivery.
- AI-Driven Process Transformation: Critically reviews existing business processes and operations across payer platforms, identifying and championing advanced automation opportunities leveraging AI (e.g., RPA integrated with ML, intelligent document processing, AI-powered chatbots for member services).
- Thought Leadership & Mentorship: Provides principal Subject Matter Expertise consultation for AI product management across the organization, mentoring junior product managers, and fostering an AI-first culture.

Required Skills & Experience:

- Healthcare Payer Domain Expertise (10+ years): Deep, proven experience within the US healthcare payer industry, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of claims processing, member enrollment, provider networks, clinical programs, regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA, ACA), and the unique challenges and opportunities within this sector.
- AI Product Development Leadership (2+ years): Extensive experience (10-14 years total product experience with 5+ specifically in AI) leading the full lifecycle of native AI/ML product development, from ideation and data strategy to model deployment, monitoring, and optimization.
- AI/ML Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of various AI/ML techniques (e.g., supervised/unsupervised learning, deep learning, NLP, computer vision, generative AI), model evaluation metrics, data science workflows, MLOps principles, and ethical AI considerations (fairness, transparency, accountability).
- Digital Product & Platform Experience: Proven track record in building and scaling digital products and platforms, with an understanding of user experience design (UX)



for AI applications and API-first strategies.
- Strategic Thinking & Proactive Identification: Ability to think proactively and strategically about how emerging AI capabilities can solve complex healthcare payer challenges, anticipate market shifts, and identify unseen opportunities for innovation.
- Exceptional Communication & Storytelling: Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex AI concepts and product strategies to diverse audiences, from technical teams to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
- Advanced Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and build strong relationships with senior leadership, cross-functional teams (Data Science, Engineering, Clinical, Legal, Compliance), and external vendors to drive consensus and product success in a highly matrixed environment.
- Data Strategy & Governance for AI: Experience defining and implementing data strategies, data governance, and data quality initiatives specifically for AI/ML model development and consumption.
- Regulatory & Compliance for AI in Healthcare: Strong awareness and experience navigating the regulatory landscape for AI/ML in healthcare, including data privacy, security, and potential algorithmic bias.
- Agile & Product Management Methodologies: Expert-level proficiency in Agile development methodologies, including scrums for AI teams, backlog management, and roadmap prioritization.
- Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and product optimization.
