AI Product Engineer — Browser, Agents & Full-Stack

Location: Fully Remote — India / Offshore Company: ActTrident Ltd — UK Cybersecurity Startup

Working model: Remote-first. No relocation to the UK. No Reading office requirement.

This is not a conventional software engineering job.

ActTrident is building cybersecurity technology that intervenes before a risky human or AI-agent action happens. Think beyond awareness training and dashboards.

We are building systems that can understand what a user or AI agent is about to do — upload a sensitive file, paste company data into an AI tool, approve an unusual action, visit a suspicious destination or trigger a high-risk workflow — and decide whether that action should be:

Allowed. Warned. Confirmed. Escalated. Or blocked.

That means building across browsers, AI agents, backend services, security controls, dashboards and cloud infrastructure.

We are looking for builders, not people waiting for perfectly written Jira tickets.

Who we want

There are two kinds of people we would particularly like to hear from.

The exceptional student / early-career builder / "Can can get this done"

You may still be in your 2nd, 3rd or 4th year at university.

Perhaps you

- Spend weekends at hackathons.
- Have won hackathons or consistently reached finals.
- Have built products nobody asked you to build.
- Have an unusually active GitHub.
- Have shipped a Chrome extension, AI agent, developer tool, app or SaaS project.
- Use Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot or similar tools to build dramatically faster.
- Would rather demonstrate what you built than talk about your CGPA.

We do not care whether you come from top university or top degree etc

If your work is exceptional, we want to see it.

The experienced builder who feels under-utilised

Perhaps you already have 1–5 years of engineering experience. You may be doing well professionally but feel frustrated because:

- You own only a tiny piece of a much larger system.
- Architecture decisions happen somewhere above you.
- You know you could build an entire product if somebody gave you the opportunity.
- You want to move faster.
- You want exposure to product, AI, security, infrastructure and customers — not only one microservice.
- You want your contribution to actually matter.

If that sounds familiar, ActTrident may be a very different environment from what you are used to.

What you will build

Depending on your strengths, you may work across:
- Chrome / Chromium extensions and Manifest V3
- Browser content scripts, service workers and secure messaging
- Browser-level action interception

- AI agents and multi-agent workflows
- MCP servers and tool orchestration
- RAG and contextual AI
- Local and cloud-hosted LLMs
- Python / FastAPI
- Node.js / TypeScript
- React dashboards
- Authentication, identity and permissions
- Policy engines
- Secure APIs and middleware
- Mobile / endpoint companion applications
- Docker and containerised services
- CI/CD and GitHub Actions
- AWS / Azure / cloud infrastructure
- DevOps and DevSecOps
- Logging, telemetry and observability
- Security testing and secure software delivery

You do not need to know everything on day one.

But you must be willing to learn whatever is necessary to get the product working.

How engineering works here

You may receive a problem like:

> A user is about to upload confidential source code into a public AI application. Detect the action, collect only the minimum context required, ask a policy/AI service for a decision, intervene in the browser, and generate a privacy-safe audit receipt.

There may not be a detailed specification. You will need to think.

Design it.

Prototype it.

Use AI coding agents intelligently.

Break it.

Fix it.

Secure it.

Deploy it.

Observe it.

Then improve it.

That is the job.

We actively encourage AI-assisted engineering

If you already use: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, Antigravity or similar agentic engineering tools, we want to hear about it.

We do not care whether an AI agent wrote 10% or 80% of your first implementation.

We care whether you understand the architecture, recognise when the agent is wrong, test the output, secure it and take responsibility for what gets shipped.

The engineer remains accountable.

You will probably enjoy ActTrident if

You:

- Build things without waiting for permission.
- Learn technologies because the problem requires them.
- Can work across frontend, backend, AI and infrastructure.
- Enjoy ambiguous technical problems.
- Have competed in hackathons, open-source projects or coding competitions.
- Like experimenting rapidly.
- Can explain your architecture clearly.
- Are comfortable deleting your own code when a better design emerges.

- Care about security rather than treating it as somebody else's responsibility.
- Want significantly more ownership than most companies give engineers early in their careers.

This role is probably NOT for you if

You need every task fully specified before starting. You only want to work inside one narrow technology area.

You measure contribution primarily by hours online.

You use AI-generated code without understanding it.

You dislike rapidly changing priorities.

You want a highly structured corporate environment with multiple layers between engineering and decision-making.

There is nothing wrong with those environments.

This simply is not one of them.

Working model

This role is completely remote. There is **no requirement to relocate to Reading or anywhere else in the UK but in future you may have to travel to Europe or US.

Our engineering team can work offshore, including from India.

For exceptional university students, we are open to versatile paid engagements that can operate around academic commitments.

For experienced engineers, we are open to discussing suitable full-time or other engagement structures based on experience, availability and location.

What matters to us is output, communication, ownership and trust.

Growth and ownership

We are building a small team deliberately. Someone joining early and repeatedly demonstrating exceptional contribution should not expect to remain "Engineer #17 working on tickets."

There is an opportunity to take significant ownership of product components and technical architecture as the company grows.

For exceptional long-term contributors, we are also open to discussing equity participation, subject to contribution, commitment, role and formal agreement.

What matters more than your CV

When you apply, please show us evidence.

Send us

1. Your GitHub or portfolio.
2. The best thing you have ever built.
3. What you personally built within it.
4. Any Chrome extensions, AI agents, open-source projects or products you have shipped.
5. Hackathons you have won or reached finals in.
6. Which AI coding tools you actually use.
7. Your current university/year OR current professional role.
8. Your realistic availability.

And answer one question If ActTrident gave you 72 hours to build something none of us had built before, why should we bet on you?

A perfect CV is not required.

Evidence that you can build is.

If you are the person your friends call when everyone else says, "I don't know how to build that," we would like to hear from you.

ActTrident

Build fast. Think deeply. Secure what happens next.
