Job Description: A Deputy General Manager (DGM) of Mechanical Engineering for a Sponge Iron Division (SID) oversees all mechanical operations, equipment reliability, and plant maintenance for Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) kilns. This is a senior techno-commercial role requiring 10-15+ years of experience in integrated steel or metallurgical plants. Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance Management: Oversee preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance to ensure maximum availability of Rotary Kilns, Coolers, and Raw Material Handling Systems.
- Project Execution: Manage equipment installation, mechanical erection, and commissioning of recent or upgraded production facilities.
- Shutdown Planning: Strategically plan and execute annual shutdowns within allocated budgets and timelines.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, supervisors, and technicians to drive operational excellence and safety protocols.
- Vendor Management: Negotiate with equipment vendors,
manage spare parts inventory, and optimize maintenance costs.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering (Diploma in Mechanical Engineering may be considered with extensive experience).
- Experience: 10.0 to 15.0+ years in Sponge Iron, DRI, or heavy steel manufacturing industries.
- Skills: Excellent equipment troubleshooting, project management, and cross-functional coordination.
