Senior Software Engineer - Edge Platform

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to strengthen our platform team developing anew Edge Platform to manage large fleets of automotive edge devices running on ZEDEDA platform.

The ideal candidate combines solid software engineering practices with practical knowledge of Linux, containers, infrastructure automation and distributed systems. You will work closely with the existing team to develop a Software component, a GitOps-based component for managing edge devices through the API. You'll also help the team think through failure modes, catch edge cases, establish testing and ensure the system is maintainable for years to come.

This is a hands-on role requiring technical expertise, ownership, collaboration, and a strong focus on maintainable and well-tested software in a SAFe environment.

Your Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain production-quality software components in Go for the recent Edgeplatform.
- Apply sound software engineering practices, including clean architecture, separation ofconcerns, interfaces, design patterns, and maintainable code.
- Collaborate with the Team on implementation, and technical decisions.
- Develop reliable integrations with ZedCloud APIs, IAM, Git, and other platform services.




- Design and implement unit, integration, and edge-case tests.
- Investigate and resolve software defects, including failures involving unreliable networks,partial updates, and device state drift.
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and technical discussions.
- Improve documentation, architecture decisions, and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Support the development of reliable automation for device lifecycle management, applicationdelivery, and Day 2 operations.

Required Skills

- Strong professional experience in software engineering and backend development.
- Proficiency in Go, including interfaces, concurrency, error handling and testing.
- Good understanding of software design principles, object-oriented design, abstraction, anddesign patterns.
- Experience writing unit and integration tests and identifying edge cases.
- Experience with REST APIs, distributed systems, retries, timeouts, idempotency, and partialfailures.
- Practical DevOps and scripting experience, including Linux, shell scripting, Gitlab CI/CD, andinfrastructure automation.
- Good knowledge of Docker and containerized applications.
- Good knowledge of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VPN, routing, NAT, and firewalls.
- Experience with collaborative software development, code reviews, and debuggingproduction issues.
- Experience working in Scrum or SAFe environments
- Fluent in English, written and spoken.

- Experience with edge computing, IoT or fleet management platforms.
- Experience with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Familiarity with GitOps tooling or lightweight application delivery mechanisms for edgeenvironments.
- Familiarity with specification-driven or test-driven development.
- Familiarity with Docker Compose, Kubernetes or k3s.
- Familiarity with OPNsense or other firewall platforms.
- Knowledge of PKI/TLS, certificate lifecycle management, TPMs, or IAM systems.
