Job Description: A Horizontal Boring Operator sets up and runs manual or CNC boring machines to cut, drill, and shape heavy metal or plastic components to precise tolerances. They interpret engineering blueprints, select cutting tools, adjust machining parameters, and inspect finished parts. Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Horizontal Boring Machine Operator to join our production team. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining horizontal boring mills to manufacture heavy-duty parts per specific engineering drawings. The ideal candidate ensures high dimensional accuracy while adhering strictly to workplace safety regulations. Key Responsibilities

- “Interpret complex engineering blueprints and technical drawings to understand part specifications, dimensions, and machining sequences”, as noted bY

- Machine Setup: Mount, align, and secure workpieces, fixtures, and cutting tools into the machine.

- Operation: “Calculate and set machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece and to regulate factors, such as cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.”

- Quality Control:



Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, bore gauges, and calipers.

- Maintenance: Perform routine machine maintenance, lubrication, and basic troubleshooting for optimal performance.

- Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety procedures to maintain a secure heavy-engineering work setting.

Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Typically 2 to 5+ years of hands-on experience in horizontal boring mill operations within a heavy engineering or manufacturing setting.

- Technical Knowledge: Strong ability to read and interpret technical blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.;

- Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and various cutting tools, feeds, and speeds.

- CNC/Manual: For CNC roles, familiarity with programming controls (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain) is required.

- Education: ITI Machinist certification, diploma in mechanical engineering, or equivalent vocational training is preferred.
