Job Description:

The Electrical Shift Incharge is responsible for supervising and maintaining all electrical systems and equipment in the DRI plant during the assigned shift. The role ensures uninterrupted plant operation, electrical safety, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, manpower coordination, and compliance with operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Operation & Monitoring

- Monitor electrical operations of the DRI plant during the shift.
- Ensure smooth functioning of motors, drives, transformers, switchgears, MCCs, PCCs, PLC systems, and field instruments.
- Maintain uninterrupted power supply to critical equipment.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance
- Attend electrical breakdowns and restore equipment quickly.
- Diagnose faults in HT/LT panels, VFDs, motors, control circuits, and automation systems.
- Coordinate preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
- Ensure proper shutdown and startup procedures.

Safety & Compliance
- Follow electrical safety procedures and permit-to-work systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and statutory regulations.
- Conduct isolation, earthing, and LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) procedures.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately.

Team Supervision
- Supervise electricians, technicians, and contract manpower during the shift.




- Allocate maintenance jobs and monitor completion.
- Train junior staff on safety and troubleshooting practices.

Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain shift logbooks and breakdown records.
- Prepare daily maintenance reports and power consumption reports.
- Record downtime analysis and corrective actions taken.

Coordination
- Coordinate with production, mechanical, and instrumentation departments.
- Support shutdown planning and emergency maintenance activities.

Educational Qualification

- Diploma / B.Tech / BE in Electrical Engineering

Experience

- Typically 5–10 years experience in:
- DRI Plant
- Steel Plant
- Power Plant
- Heavy industrial electrical maintenance

Preferred Experience

Experience with:

- Kiln operations
- ESP systems
- Conveyors
- Compressors
- DG sets
- Substations
- VFDs and PLC systems
