A Thickener Operator in a coal washery manages equipment that separates fine waste solids and slurry from wash water. Their core duties involve controlling feed rates, regulating flocculant chemical dosing, managing the sludge blanket, and ensuring clean water returns to the wash circuit. Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties

- Flow & Valve Regulation: Turns valves and adjusts pumps to control the flow of coal slurry mixture into the thickener tanks.
- Chemical Dosing: Prepares and regulates the addition of chemicals (such as flocculants or coagulants) to facilitate the settling of fine solids.
- Sludge & Bed Level Management: Measures sludge blanket levels using indicators and adjusts the underflow discharge rate to prevent equipment overloads or poor settling.
- Quality & Clarity Control: Monitors the overflow to ensure the water is clean enough to be recycled back into the main Coal washery operations.
- Equipment Monitoring: Inspects rakes, drives,Slurry pumps,and pipelines for hazards, leaks, or wear.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Performs routine greasing, clears blockages in troughs,



and assists maintenance teams during breakdowns.
- Record Keeping: Logs operational data, such as densities, flow rates, Indicator Readings, and chemical usage into plant systems.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Diploma in Mining, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, or an ITI certification in relevant trades (plant operation).
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in solid-liquid separation, tailings management, or operating Wahery Mechinery in the minerals or coal processing industry.
- Skills: Robust understanding of Sesimentation principals, proficiency with DCS or PLC control panels, and ability to read process gauges.
- Safety & Compliance: Strict adherence to mine safety and Environmental Regulations governing coal refuse and wastewater disposal.
