Key Responsibilities
- Structural Design & Development
- Proficiency in 1D structural calculations.
- Design and develop primary and secondary structures for rockets.
- Work with metallic and composite materials to optimize structural efficiency and weight reduction.
- Perform detailed CAD modeling of aerospace structures, ensuring integration with propulsion, avionics, and thermal systems.
- Structural Analysis & Load Evaluation
- Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using tools like ANSYS, Abaqus to assess stress, strain, buckling, and fatigue life.
- Evaluate various loading conditions, including aerodynamic loads, inertial loads, dynamic loads, and thermal stresses.
- Perform hand calculations and classical structural analysis to validate FEA results.
- Conduct dynamic, thermo-structural, and Power Spectral Density (PSD)
analysis for aerospace structures.
- Failure Analysis & Safety Assessment
- Identify potential failure modes (yielding, buckling, fatigue, fracture) and develop mitigation strategies.
- Apply industry-standard failure criteria (e.g., Von Mises) for material selection and structural safety.
- Support design reviews, trade studies, and safety assessments to ensure compliance with aerospace standards.
- Structural Optimization & Weight Reduction
- Apply topology optimization, lightweight material selection, and advanced manufacturing techniques to minimize weight without compromising strength.
- Explore alternative design configurations to enhance structural efficiency and manufacturability.
- Manufacturing Support & Testing
- Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure the feasibility of designs.
- Support structural testing, including static load tests, vibration tests, and material characterization.
- Assist in the assembly and integration of structures with other vehicle subsystems.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in CAD software (SpaceClaim, Autodesk Fusion, AutoCAD).
- Expertise in FEA tools (ANSYS, Abaqus).
- Solid knowledge of metallic and composite materials.
- Experience in structural analysis (fatigue, fracture, buckling, impact, thermos structural, PSD, Modal, vibration).
- Hands-on experience with structural testing and data validation.
- Proficiency in 1D structural calculations.
Soft Skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with propulsion,
aerodynamics, and manufacturing teams.
- Ability to document and present analysis results clearly.

Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Skills)
- Experience in rocket interstage, tank, fairing, or payload adapter structures.
- Knowledge of spacecraft loads, dynamics, and vibrational analysis.
- Hands-on experience with additive manufacturing (3D printing) for aerospace structures.
Proficiency in CAD software (SpaceClaim, Autodesk Fusion, AutoCAD).
Expertise in FEA tools (ANSYS, Abaqus).
