A Store Officer's primary responsibility is managing inventory and ensuring the productive operation of a store's stockroom. They are responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing materials and products, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Inventory Management:
- Maintaining accurate records of inventory levels and transactions using inventory management software.
- Conducting regular stock checks and reconciling discrepancies.
- Implementing and maintaining inventory systems like First In, First Out (FIFO).
- Providing information on current stock levels to support reordering decisions.
- Monitoring trends in product receipt and dispatch for demand forecasting.
- Receiving and Issuing:
- Receiving and inspecting incoming goods against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Storing and organizing materials in the store.
- Issuing materials and products to authorized personnel or departments.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintaining accurate records of inventory transactions, including receipts, issues, and returns.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Preparing reports on inventory levels and performance.
- Coordination and Communication:
- Coordinating with procurement and production teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Communicating with suppliers and logistics providers.
- Liaising with other departments to fulfill requests.
- Other Duties:
- Conducting physical inventory counts.
- Ensuring safety and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Training and guiding store staff.
