Technical Skills
Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, and IP addressing.
Understanding of the OSI Model and network protocols.
Experience with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN technologies.
Configuration and troubleshooting of:
o Routers
o Switches
o Wireless Access Points
o Firewalls (basic to intermediate) ---optional
Knowledge of routing protocols:
o Static Routing
o RIP
o OSPF
o EIGRP
o BGP (preferred)
VLAN configuration and troubleshooting.
Spanning Tree Protocol (STP).
DHCP, DNS, NAT, and NTP.
Basic knowledge of network security concepts such as ACLs and firewall rules.
Experience with network monitoring tools such as:
o SolarWinds
o PRTG
o Nagios
o Zabbix
Packet analysis using Wireshark.
Basic understanding of cloud networking (Azure/AWS) is an added advantage.
Vendor Knowledge

Troubleshooting Skills
An L2 engineer should be able to:
Diagnose network connectivity issues.

Troubleshoot VPN connectivity.

Handle switch and router hardware faults.
Perform configuration backups and restorations.
Escalate complex issues to the L3 team with proper documentation.
