Slitting machine operators work in factories to use equipment to cut materials into slats of a set width and length. They work with a variety of materials, such as cardboard, metal, or plastic, and each project has its own production guidelines and specifications. Their responsibilities include:
- Loading and aligning: Loading the product and aligning it properly
- Operating the machine: Ensuring all cuts meet specifications throughout the machine process and operating the machine to achieve or exceed standard efficiencies and scrap
- Maintaining: Maintaining the machines and auxiliary equipment, and reducing waste and scrap levels by maintaining appropriate settings
