Contract to Hire (6 Months – C2C)

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to lead technical execution on a major legacy-to-Databricks migration program. In this role, you will architect migration frameworks, modernize complex database logic, optimize PySpark workflows, and mentor a team of engineers to ensure delivery quality.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead technical migration efforts of legacy databases and ETL platforms to modern cloud-hosted Data-bricks environments.

- Analyze highly complex T-SQL scripts, multi-level stored procedures, and business logic for optimization and modernization.

- Design and build modular, reusable migration frameworks, coding standards, and accelerators.

- Convert legacy structures into scalable PySpark, Spark SQL, and Delta Lake implementations.

- Review code, mentor junior developers, and enforce data engineering best practices.

- Optimize Data bricks workloads, cluster configurations, and Spark jobs for performance and cost efficiency.

- Partner with architects, business stakeholders, and delivery leads to coordinate migration strategy.

Requirements

- Strong hands-on experience with Databricks and PySpark





- Advanced expertise in SQL / T-SQL, including stored procedures, functions, views, and complex
- transformations

- Strong background in ETL/ELT, Data Warehousing, and legacy data migration

- Experience migrating SQL Server, Oracle, or traditional ETL platforms to Databricks

- Expertise in Delta Lake, Spark SQL, and scalable data processing

- Robust understanding of Data Modeling, dimensional modeling, and batch processing

- Experience optimizing Spark jobs, Databricks notebooks, and ETL pipelines

- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning skills

- Experience reviewing code, mentoring engineers, and driving technical best practices

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

● Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Platform experience ● Unity Catalog, Data Governance, Lineage, and Security ● Azure Synapse Analytics ● CI/CD and DevOps for Data Engineering workloads ● Experience building migration frameworks and reusable accelerators ● Databricks or Azure Data Engineer Certification ● Agile/Scrum delivery experience
