: Tech Lead (StEvE Platform)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Tech Lead to drive the technical evolution of StEvE, our high-scale event-sourcing platform. StEvE processes billions of movements and grows by over 20 million events per day. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on engineering skills with architectural vision, leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of distributed systems, data consistency, and performance optimization.The Tech Lead will guide a cross-functional engineering team, shape technical direction, and ensure the StEvE platform remains resilient, scalable, and maintainable while supporting critical business processes.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & ArchitecturePlatform Ownership: Own the end-to-end architecture of the StEvE event-sourcing platform to meet scalability and reliability requirements.

Decision Making: Lead architectural decisions regarding event modeling, Kafka-based streaming, and PostgreSQL partitioning.Standards: Drive continuous improvement of system design, coding standards, and engineering best practices.Innovation: Evaluate and implement current technologies, frameworks, and patterns to optimize high-volume data workloads.Hands-On EngineeringDevelopment: Write and review production-grade code within the platform’s core technology stack (Java/Spring Boot).

Optimization: Solve complex performance bottlenecks in PostgreSQL, Kafka,



and microservices.Troubleshooting: Lead root-cause analysis across distributed systems, including event chain corrections and reprocessing.Cloud

Stakeholder Alignment: Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and DevOps to define technical roadmaps and translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 7+ years in backend or distributed systems engineering.Leadership: Proven track record as a Tech Lead or Senior Engineer in high-scale production environments.

Database Expertise: Strong PostgreSQL skills (partitioning, indexing, and query optimization).

Event Streaming: Deep knowledge of Kafka (consumers, producers, offsets, and DLQ patterns).

Tech Stack: Proficiency in Java / Spring Boot microservices and HikariCP tuning.Cloud Infrastructure: Experience with GCP / GKE / Kubernetes.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with high-volume data processing (billions of rows).

- Familiarity with Datadog for observability and APM.Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).

- Experience with event correction workflows and replay strategies.

- Soft SkillsAbility to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
