Purpose
CEEW seeks to hire a research intern for the Circular Economy programme within the Energy Transitions team. This role will focus on developing a circularity measuring framework for clean energy value chains, with a primary emphasis on solar photovoltaic and battery
technologies. The position involves conducting literature reviews, compiling and analysing data, and identifying circularity metrics and indicators across different stages of these value chains. The intern will also
assist in coordinating communication with relevant industry actors and researchers to ensure that the indicators reflect emerging best practices and technological developments.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with organisations developing innovative circular solutions for solar and battery sectors, as well as with government stakeholders shaping India’s circular economy agenda. It is well suited for candidates interested in building strong analytical, data, and public policy skills in the context of sustainable energy transitions.
Job duties and accountabilities
Research â Lead data collection and compilation related to circularity indicators for clean energy value chains, including solar PV and batteries.
â This involves gathering, organising, validating, and managing datasets from diverse sources of methodologies, metrics, and stakeholder inputs.
â Identify and prioritise critical circularity metrics for the solar PV and battery value chains by assessing their relevance, data availability, and alignment with national circular economy objectives and global benchmarks.
â Support the development of a circularity measuring framework for the clean energy value chains using the compiled data and analysis conducted.
â Synthesise research findings into clear, accessible formats, including Word documents and presentations, to support internal discussions and external dissemination.
â Assist with additional research work under the Circular Economy programme as required, contributing to analysis, documentation, and stakeholder coordination.
Programme Assistance
â Assist with project implementation, including help with preparing presentations, spreadsheets,
and other communication material.
â Support efforts to use new media platforms for wider dissemination of CEEW's work and, in turn, closer engagement with the key stakeholders.
Selection Criteria
Qualification
Enrolled in or completed a bachelor’s/master's degree in science, engineering and allied fields.
Work experience â 0-1 years of experience.
â Desirable - Prior experience or familiarity with evaluating circularity metrics and ISO 59020, conducting indicator assessments, and using lifecycle or material flow based analytical approaches.
Key skills â Candidates must have solid â research background â communication skills (verbal and written)
â Desirable skills â quantitative data analysis skills with practical experience using tools such as Material Circularity Indicator (MCI) by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.
