Responsibilities
- Assist in the comprehensive oncology assessment of patients, including medical history review, physical examination support, and documentation of treatment eligibility.
- Participate in radiation treatment planning under supervision, including contouring target volumes and organs at risk on CT/MRI imaging datasets.
- Support treatment delivery using LINAC systems, ensuring precise patient positioning, immobilization, and quality assurance checks.
- Aid in brachytherapy procedures by preparing equipment, assisting with applicator placement, and ensuring sterility and safety protocols.
- Perform dose calculation verification and assist in the implementation of treatment plans in accordance with clinical guidelines.
- Monitor patients during and after treatment sessions, identifying early signs of acute toxicity and reporting findings promptly to the clinical team.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records, including treatment logs, imaging data, and toxicity documentation in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with the radiation therapy team to ensure equipment functionality, perform routine checks, and report malfunctions or maintenance needs.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary tumor board discussions by preparing patient data and presenting clinical summaries.
- Stay current with advancements in radiation oncology through continuous learning and participation in departmental training sessions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Radiation Technology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field (B.Sc. in Radiotherapy/Onco-Technology preferred).
- Solid foundational knowledge of radiation oncology principles, including treatment planning, dose distribution, and radiobiology.
- Proficiency in CT and MRI image interpretation for target delineation and anatomical localization.
- Hands-on experience or training in LINAC-based treatment delivery, including patient setup, image guidance (IGRT), and immobilization techniques.
- Familiarity with brachytherapy procedures, including afterloading systems and dose delivery protocols.
- Competency in dose calculation methods, including manual and software-assisted verification.
- Ability to perform patient monitoring and recognize early signs of radiation-induced toxicity (e.g., dermatitis, mucositis, fatigue).
- Proficient in operating and maintaining radiation therapy equipment and understanding of safety protocols.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented clinical environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide compassionate care to patients and families.
- Willingness to work in a rotating shift schedule, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties as required.
