A Production Manager in the Steel Melting Shop (SMS) Division oversees daily steelmaking, aiming to meet production targets (quantity, quality, cost) by managing EAF/Induction Furnaces and Continuous Casting Machines (CCM). They optimize raw material charging and refractory life while ensuring high-safety compliance, typically requiring 10-20 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Production Management: Oversee the entire steelmaking process (Charging, Melting, Tapping, Casting) to produce billets/slabs.

- Process Optimization: Optimize charge mix (scrap/sponge iron), reduce tap-to-tap times, and manage refractory life to lower consumption.

- Quality Control: Ensure strict adherence to chemical specifications for different grades of steel.

- Team Leadership & Safety: Lead operators, manage shift operations,



and enforce rigorous Safety and Quality standards (e.g., JSA).

- Maintenance Coordination: Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure high uptime for furnaces and CCM.

Requirements

- Experience: 10-15 years of experience, often specifically in steel melting shops.

- Technical Expertise: Robust knowledge of SMS operations, including EAF (Electric Arc Furnace), Induction Furnaces, and ladle metallurgy.

- Location/Salary: Common in industrial hubs like Raipur and West Bengal, with typical senior roles offering 7-8 LPA.
