Responsibilities

In the solar electrical industry, a Production Manager oversees and optimizes the manufacturing of solar products (like panels or components) and the installation processes, focusing on efficiency, safety, quality, cost-effectiveness, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include managing production staff, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, optimizing resource allocation, reducing costs, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to meet production targets and customer expectations.

Production Operations & Staff Management

- Supervise and Train:

Oversee and motivate installation and production crews, ensuring they receive proper safety training and equipment.

- Performance Management:

Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and foster a culture of teamwork and accountability to meet quality, productivity, and safety goals.

- Process Optimization:

Implement and improve manufacturing processes, develop new ways to save time and materials, and control inventory to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Quality & Safety Compliance

- Implement Quality Systems:

Establish and maintain quality control systems to meet industry standards and client expectations.

- Ensure Safety Protocols:

Enforce safety regulations,

- Oversee Testing & Inspections:

Project & Resource Management

- Production Planning & Scheduling:

Create production schedules, estimate materials and equipment, and coordinate all activities required for successful project completion.

- Budget & Cost Control:

Manage budgets and resources to ensure production remains cost-effective and economical.

- Continuous Improvement:

Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity by analyzing processes, identifying problems, and implementing corrective actions.

Technical Expertise & Collaboration

- Technical Support:

Provide technical assistance to installers and other solar professionals, assisting with system assessments and troubleshooting.

- Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Partner with scheduling, maintenance, and quality departments to optimize workflow and achieve production goals.

- Evaluate Bids and Subcontractors:

Evaluate subcontractor bids for quality, reliability, and cost, and monitor their work to ensure adherence to project plans and specifications.
