Role Summary
We are seeking a Principal Industry Expert with deep end-to-end Supply Chain domain expertise — spanning both business processes and the technology stack that supports them. This is not a sales role. The successful candidate will serve as the authoritative voice on how Supply Chain businesses actually operate — from strategic sourcing through last-mile delivery, and across the systems, data, and integration patterns that make those operations run.
They will work with our product, engineering, sales, and partner teams to translate that end-to-end understanding into solutions, intellectual property, and credible customer engagement. The role demands fluency in both the business (P&L; drivers, operating models, KPIs, regulatory workplace) and the technology (ERP, WMS, TMS, planning systems, data architecture, integration platforms, and increasingly AI-enabled workflows).
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the end-to-end Supply Chain domain authority across the business — covering planning, procurement, manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, distribution, and reverse logistics.
- Translate deep business understanding into solution design — recognizing how decisions in one part of the supply chain (e.g., sourcing strategy) impact others (inventory carrying cost, fulfillment SLAs, cash conversion cycle).
- Bring technical fluency in the Supply Chain technology stack — ERP, WMS, TMS, demand planning and S&OP; platforms, integration layers, and data warehousing.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to shape solution capabilities, accelerators, and intellectual property for Supply Chain use cases — including AI-driven forecasting, Agentic planning workflows, and integration modernization.
- Co-develop industry-specific intellectual property and frameworks tailored to Supply Chain operations.
- Engage with customers as a credible peer in business and technical discussions — leading workshops on operating model design, technology architecture, and AI adoption roadmaps.
- Support enterprise customer engagements by bringing domain depth that goes beyond sales positioning.
- Build thought leadership through whitepapers, conference contributions, and customer reference work that demonstrates depth in both Supply Chain business and technology.
- Mentor product, engineering, and sales team members on Supply Chain domain knowledge, both business mechanics and technical stack realities.
Required Qualifications
- 10–15 years of professional experience in Supply Chain, with a blend of operating, advisory, consulting, or technology delivery roles. Pure sales backgrounds are not a fit for this role.
- Deep end-to-end functional knowledge of Supply Chain processes: strategic sourcing, procurement, demand planning, S&OP;, manufacturing operations, inventory management, warehousing, transportation, and last-mile delivery.
- Strong technical fluency in Supply Chain systems and architecture — major ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, or comparable), WMS, TMS, planning systems (Kinaxis, o9, Blue Yonder, or similar),
and enterprise integration platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to connect business outcomes to technology decisions — e.g., how a change in demand-sensing approach drives data-architecture requirements, or how integration choices affect operational agility.
- Experience working alongside product, engineering, or solution architecture teams to design and deliver Supply Chain solutions.
- Strong executive presence and proven ability to engage credibly with both Chief Supply Chain Officer-level business audiences and Chief Information Officer / Chief Technology Officer-level technical audiences.
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA, Supply Chain certifications (APICS CPIM/CSCP), or advanced degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Generative AI or applied AI/Machine Learning use cases in Supply Chain — forecasting, planning copilots, agentic workflows, intelligent document processing, application modernization.
- Experience with enterprise integration and modernization stacks relevant to Supply Chain.
- Direct operating experience inside a Supply Chain function at a large enterprise (whether in industry or in a consulting engagement leading transformation work).
- Existing relationships in the Supply Chain ecosystem, including logistics, manufacturing, retail, or distribution enterprises — though relationships alone are not sufficient for this role.
- Published thought leadership (articles, conference speaking, customer case studies) in Supply Chain transformation, digital operations, or AI in Supply Chain.
- Experience leading or mentoring distributed teams across geographies.
