About the Role
Platform Engineers at Rubiscape build the internal developer platform that every product squad — across RubiFlow, RubiStudio, RubiSight, RubiAI, RubiThings, and Business Workbench — relies on to ship with speed and
confidence. You will design golden-path templates, self-service environments, and paved-road toolchains that eliminate toil and enforce security and compliance guardrails by default. Rubiscape's platform is deployed across SaaS,
BYOC, hybrid, on-premises, and air-gapped modes for Fortune 500 customers; the internal platform must accommodate all these deployment surfaces without fragmenting the developer experience. If you believe platform is a product and
developers are your customers, this role is built for you.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and own the Internal Developer Platform (IDP) — including self-service environment provisioning, service catalogue templates (Backstage or equivalent), and golden-path CI/CD workflows that product squads adopt by default.
• Architect and operate a multi-cluster, multi-cloud Kubernetes platform using EKS, AKS, and GKE; define cluster topology, node pool strategies, and upgrade runbooks.
• Build and maintain platform-level services: secrets management (Vault), certificate management (cert-manager), service mesh (Istio or Linkerd), and internal load balancing.
• Define infrastructure standards and enforce them via policy-as-code (OPA/Gatekeeper, Kyverno) — ensuring resource tagging, network policy, and image provenance requirements are met across all teams.
• Own the developer toolchain: local development environment setup (Dev Containers, Tilt, Skaffold), code quality gates, and ephemeral preview workplace pipelines.
• Drive platform reliability through SLO definitions, error budgets,
and automated remediation runbooks for common platform failure modes.
• Produce developer-facing documentation and run platform office hours to accelerate squad onboarding and reduce ticket load on the platform team.
Nice to Have
• Experience with service mesh (Istio or Linkerd) in production multi-tenant Kubernetes clusters.
• Contributions to open-source platform tooling or internal platform conference speaking.
• Exposure to data/ML platform workloads — Spark Operator, Kubeflow, Ray, or MLflow on Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of FinOps practices and experience implementing chargeback or showback for platform cost allocation.

• Experience designing and operating an Internal Developer Platform or developer portal — Backstage, Cortex, or equivalent.
• Strong Terraform skills including provider plugin development or custom module library design.
• Hands-on experience with policy-as-code tools (OPA, Gatekeeper, Kyverno) in multi-team environments.
• Excellent written communication skills — platform engineers at Rubiscape write ADRs, runbooks, and RFC-style proposals that engineering leadership reviews.
