A Painting Head directs the entire painting operation for a facility or project. They manage paint crews, oversee surface preparation and finishing techniques, enforce safety and environmental standards, and ensure all work meets quality specifications.

Key Responsibilities

- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and supervise junior painters and technicians, assigning daily tasks and conducting performance evaluations.

- Quality Assurance: Inspect surfaces before, during, and after paint application to guarantee flawless finishes and adherence to project blueprints.

- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels of paints, solvents, sealers, and safety gear, and order supplies as needed.

- Safety Compliance: Enforce strict OSHA or regional safety regulations, particularly regarding chemical fumes, ventilation, and protective equipment.

- Budgeting & Planning: Create project timelines, estimate material costs,



and collaborate with contractors or production managers to ensure deadlines are met.

Essential Qualifications

- Experience: Minimum 3 to 6+ years of skilled painting experience, including at least 1-3 years in a supervisory or team-lead role.

- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of physical and chemical properties of various coatings (epoxy, latex, polyurethane).

- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs), and comfortably work on scaffolding or ladders.

- Certifications: Relevant trade school diplomas or safety certifications (like OSHA compliance) are highly preferred.
