Responsibilities

- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and patient assessments to diagnose and manage general ophthalmic conditions.
- Perform routine and specialized eye tests, including visual acuity, tonometry, slit-lamp biomicroscopy, and fundoscopy.
- Interpret diagnostic imaging and test results (e.g., OCT, visual field testing, retinal photography) in collaboration with senior physicians.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for patients, including prescribing medications, recommending corrective lenses, and coordinating referrals.
- Assist in pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing cataract and other ophthalmic surgeries.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date medical records in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including optometrists, nurses, and specialists, to ensure holistic patient care.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives,



and hospital-wide educational sessions.
- Adhere to infection control protocols, patient safety guidelines, and ethical standards in all clinical interactions.

Requirements

- MBBS degree with a recognized postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology (MD/MS in Ophthalmology) or equivalent.
- Valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) and state medical council.
- Demonstrated ability to manage general ophthalmology cases under the supervision of senior consultants.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment such as slit lamps, tonometers, and retinal imaging systems.
- Solid clinical reasoning, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills with patients and colleagues.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in ophthalmic medicine and surgery.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment with minimal supervision during routine tasks.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and hospital information management tools.
