Position Overview

We are looking for a driven and creative Materials Scientist to support the development of advanced diamond tools and to lead cutting-edge materials research. This role plays a vital part in innovating our products by exploring material structures, behaviors, and applications, particularly through the lens of powder metallurgy and superabrasives. You'll be instrumental in conceptualizing, experimenting and testing materials that push the boundaries of tool performance and endurance.

You will lead projects in collaboration with external technology centers, universities, and internal stakeholders around the globe.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITY:

- Manage research projects on the structures and properties of metals, alloys, polymeric binders, and ceramics in the field of powder metallurgy.

- Gather, analyze and recommend materials to support diamond tooling innovation, engineer advanced materials with tailored properties, and assess their performance across diverse operational conditions.

- Plan and execute feasibility studies and process validations for production techniques of materials with specialized characteristics.





- Collaborate with product development teams to optimize material selection and processing methods for diamond cutting, sawing, drilling, and grinding tools.

- Prepare technical documentation including reports, manuals, manuscripts, proposals, and patent applications.

- Liaise with universities, research institutes, and industry partners to contribute to collaborative R&D; initiatives.
- DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

- 3+ years of relevant industry experience in material research and characterization, especially related to industrial applications, ideally in the field of powder metallurgy.

- Knowledge of manufacturing technologies, e.g. powder metallurgy, joining or coating technologies (e.g. CVD, PVD) is a plus.
- Hands-on mindset and passion for solving complex materials challenges.
- Proficiency with analytical techniques such as SEM, XRD, DSC, FTIR, and mechanical testing methods, knowledge on tribology is a plus.
- High level of initiative, technological interest, and cooperative spirit with the ability to turn scientific insight into commercial innovation.
- Strong skills in technical writing, documentation, data analysis, and communicating scientific concepts and recommended actions to multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
- Strong communication skills and team orientation in dealing with various departments and stakeholders.
- Fluent command of English.
