Role Purpose To ensure product quality during the manufacturing process by monitoring, controlling, and improving in-process parameters. The role focuses on defect prevention, process adherence, and real-time quality assurance to achieve zero-defect production.
Key Responsibilities 1. In-Process Quality Control
- Perform stage-wise inspections across production lines (incoming → assembly → final stages).
- Monitor critical process parameters and ensure adherence to SOPs and control plans.
- Conduct patrol inspection and line audits to identify deviations.
- Approve first-off samples and in-process checkpoints.
2.
Defect
Identification &
- Control
- Identify defects at early stages and prevent further propagation.
- Implement containment actions for quality issues on the shop floor.
- Maintain rejection, rework, and defect data.
3.
Root Cause
Analysis &
- Problem Solving
- Perform RCA using tools like:
- Fishbone (Ishikawa)
- 5 Why Analysis
- Pareto Analysis
- Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to eliminate recurring issues.
4.
Process Quality
Assurance
- Ensure adherence to:
- Control Plans
- Process Flow
- Work Instructions
- Validate process changes and engineering modifications.
- Support recent product introduction (NPI) and pilot runs.
5. Documentation &
- Reporting
- Maintain inspection reports, check sheets, and quality logs.
- Track KPIs such as:
- First Pass Yield (FPY)
- In-process rejection rate
- Rework percentage
- Prepare daily/weekly quality reports.
6. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with:
- Production
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Supplier Quality
- Support audits (internal / customer / certification).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
7. Compliance &
- Standards
- Ensure compliance with quality standards like:
- ISO 9001
- IATF (if automotive)
- Follow safety and EHS guidelines on the shop floor.
