Overview / Responsibilities

Wood PLC, Applied Intelligence team is currently recruiting for a Lead Engineer to join the Intelligent Operations business based in Chennai.

This position is responsible for guiding the modeling effort, developing modeling approaches, and mentoring the regional modeling team within the overall goals for support and improvements for the global Virtuoso Project base. This person will be responsible for detailed technical work in support of multiple functions on project teams while advising junior engineers on those teams. They will participate in technical discussions and design reviews.

Additionally, they will be responsible for peer reviewing project work and verifying new technology developments. The person in this position will utilize their strong understanding of the physical processes being modeled (such as fluid dynamics, heat/mass transfer, and thermodynamics) to communicate technical information to software developers or improving current models’ accuracy. They will serve as a lead technical engineer with minimal oversight, perform specialized studies utilizing flow assurance software including our proprietary software Virtuoso, and perform investigative troubleshooting when performance questions arise.





This person will author technical papers and presentations for internal company updates and technical conferences to demonstrate the capabilities of the Virtuoso software. They shall ensure compliance with the Company’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and Quality Management System (QMS) policies.

Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications:

PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Petroleum Engineering and at least sixteen (16) years experience as an engineering/research professional to include numerical flow modeling and thermodynamics and proficient in Wood’s in-house Process and Flow assurance modeling packages.
