Roles and Responsibilities A label machine or filling operator's job is to operate machinery, perform maintenance, and ensure the labeling and packaging process runs smoothly:

- Labeling

Apply labels to finished products, cut stencils, and attach identification labels

- Packaging

Fill boxes, check that packages are secure, and adjust machines for efficient product flow

- Maintenance

Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on the machines

- Quality control

Sort, grade, weigh, and inspect products to ensure they meet specifications

- Production line

Anticipate errors and make adjustments to prevent slowing down the production line

- Safety





Ensure the machines are secure to operate and report any malfunctions or errors to a supervisor

- Administrative tasks

Complete paperwork and other minor administrative tasks at the beginning and end of your shift

- Teamwork

Support other machine operators to ensure no workers become fatigued or distracted

Some qualities that are helpful for a label machine or filling operator include:

- Attention to detail

- Mechanical repair skills

- Ability to work in a team environment

- Good vision

- Ability to frequently lift, push, and/or move items weighing 40 pounds or more
