Role Overview
The Service Captain will be responsible for overseeing floor operations, ensuring service standards are executed flawlessly, and guiding the service team in delivering a calm, observant, and non-intrusive dining experience.
This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to read the floor in real-time — stepping in only when necessary while maintaining seamless service flow.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate front-of-house service staff during shifts
- Ensure all service aligns with Japanese hospitality principles (subtle, attentive, non-intrusive)
- Monitor table flow, guest experience, and service timing across the floor.
- Step in to handle complex guest interactions or escalations.
- Train and guide wait staff on service etiquette, timing, and behavior
- Ensure staff understands when to engage and when to step back.
- Oversee table allocation, seating flow, and peak-hour management
- Coordinate closely with kitchen and bar for smooth service execution
- Maintain high standards of grooming, hygiene, and floor presentation
- Support digital menu operations and assist guests when required
- Drive consistency in service quality across all shifts.
Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2 to 6 years of experience in restaurant or hospitality service
- Prior experience as a Captain / Senior Steward / Floor Supervisor
- Strong leadership
