GC–MS Analyst – Roles & Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) systems for qualitative and quantitative analysis.
- Perform sample preparation, extraction, derivatization, and dilution as per approved methods.
- Develop, optimize, and validate GC-MS analytical methods in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Analyze chromatograms and interpret mass spectra using reference libraries (e.g., NIST).
- Conduct instrument calibration, system suitability tests, and performance verification.
- Identify and quantify unknown compounds, impurities, residual solvents, pesticides, or contaminants.
- Troubleshoot GC-MS issues related to columns, injectors, detectors, vacuum systems, and software.
- Ensure data integrity, accurate documentation, and timely reporting of results.
- Follow GLP, GMP,
ISO, and regulatory standards during analysis and documentation.
- Prepare and review analytical reports, validation protocols, and SOPs.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and coordinate instrument servicing.
- Handle chemical reagents safely and follow laboratory safety procedures.
- Support audits, inspections, and investigations related to analytical data.
- Collaborate with R&D;, QA/QC, and production teams as required.
