SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Educational Qualifications:
- 10+ year Experience with Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
- Diploma in the relevant discipline may be acceptable for candidates with 12–15+ years of strong solar/EPC quality experience.
- Preferred Certifications:
- QA/QC Certification (e.g., ASQ-CQE, ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor)
- Electrical Safety / HV Switching certification (for electrical-focused roles)
- PV-specific training or certification
- Knowledge of Standards:
- Indian Standards (IS codes), IEC standards for PV modules, inverters, electrical equipment
Functional Skills:
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of utility-scale Solar PV plant construction, from civil works to mechanical & electrical installation.
- Familiarity with IEC, IS, and relevant PV industry standards.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, ITPs, and method statements for PV-specific works.
Quality control expertise in:
- Civil: MMS foundations, trenches, cable ducts, control buildings.
- Mechanical: MMS structure assembly, module mounting, torque verification.
- Electrical: DC/AC cabling, inverter & transformer installation, earthing, SCADA, protection testing.
- Experience in inspecting and accepting PV modules, inverters, transformers, cables, and MMS structures.
- Proficiency in field testing (megger, continuity, earthing resistance, IV curve, HV tests).
Quality Management Skills
- Preparation and implementation of Project Quality Plan (PQP) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- NCR/CAPA management, root cause analysis, and corrective action verification.
- QA/QC dossier preparation for project handover.
Soft Skills
- Robust coordination with EPC contractors, OEMs, and client representatives.
- Good communication and reporting skills (daily/weekly quality reports, inspection notes).
- Problem-solving mindset and proactive quality risk prevention.
- Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and work in remote site conditions.

1. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Accountabilities
Major Activities Quality Management
- Quality Planning & Documentation
- Implement FQP and site-specific ITPs in alignment with project contracts and standards.
- Ensure that method statements and work procedures are reviewed and approved before execution.
- Maintain updated Quality Documentation (inspection reports, calibration records, certificates, material approvals, test results).
2. Incoming Material Quality Control
- Inspection and verification of incoming materials and equipment (modules, inverters, MMS, cables, transformers, switchgear).
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer’s test certificates and QA/QC acceptance criteria.
- Reject and document any non-compliant materials.
3. Construction & Installation Quality Oversight
- Ensure that civil works (foundations, trenches, cable routes) meet engineering drawings, compaction specs, and concrete quality requirements.
- Monitor mechanical installation of MMS, modules, and trackers for torque settings, alignment, and corrosion protection.
- Oversee electrical installation for cabling, terminations, earthing, SCB/SMB installation, inverter & transformer integration.
- Witness critical tests (megger, continuity, earthing resistance,
HV tests).
4. Inspection & Testing
- Conduct inspections as per ITPs – Hold Points / Witness Points.
- Manage and record all site tests: soil resistivity, concrete cube testing, torque verification, insulation resistance, etc.
- Ensure all test equipment is calibrated and records are available.
5. Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions
- Issue NCRs for deviations from specifications.
- Track and verify corrective & preventive actions (CAPA) closure.
- Root cause analysis for repetitive quality issues.
6. Handover & Final Documentation
- Compile As-Built Quality Dossiers for each discipline.
- Ensure Punch List items are tracked and closed before PAC (Provisional Acceptance Certificate).
- Deliver final quality reports for client acceptance.
7. Coordination & Reporting
- Conduct daily / weekly quality coordination meetings with EPC and subcontractors.
- Prepare Weekly Quality Reports for management.
- Liaise with statutory bodies (where required) for compliance inspections
Technical Innovation & Developing Solutions
- Adopt digital quality dashboards, non-conformance tracking systems, and real-time quality data analytics...
Business Planning & Budget Forecasting
- Budget allocation for quality engineers, inspectors, and specialists at project sites
- Provision for quality tools (measuring instruments, test kits), digital platforms (QMS software, NCR tracking), third-party inspections, lab testing, for his site
Developing self and others
- Conduct regular training and awareness programs on quality standards, root cause analysis (RCA)
- Promote a culture of zero-defect and first-time-right execution
Management Functions
- Provide quality assurance reports to internal management, clients, and lenders.
- Showcase quality credentials through audit clearances, and compliance records.
Interface with Hong Kong
