Responsibilities:
- Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and reporting.
- Design and implement database structures, tables, indexes, and views to support application requirements.
- Collaborate with software developers and data analysts to understand data needs and translate them into efficient database solutions.
- Perform database performance tuning and query optimization to enhance system responsiveness and efficiency.
- Manage and monitor database backups, restores, and disaster recovery processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Implement and enforce database security best practices, including access control and data encryption.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including data dictionaries, ER diagrams, and user guides.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in database development and administration.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a SQL Developer with 3 to 5 years of hands-on database development using Microsoft SQL Server.
- Strong proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
- Solid understanding of database design principles, normalization, and data modeling.
- Experience with performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools.
- Proficiency in using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and other database tools.
- Knowledge of database security best practices and data protection methods.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Preferred:
- Microsoft SQL Server certification (e.g., MCSA: SQL Database Development).
- Experience with other database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and technologies.
