Role Description
Cloud engineers are responsible for implementing and maintaining cloud-based solutions for organizations. Key expectations include:
1. Design and implement cloud-based solutions using one or more cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
2. Automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
3. Collaborate with development teams to ensure that applications are designed for optimal deployment in the cloud.
4. Work with operations teams to ensure that cloud-based solutions are monitored and optimized for performance and cost.
5. Implement security best practices to ensure that cloud-based solutions meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
6. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud-based solutions.
7. Continuously evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend ways to improve our cloud infrastructure and operations.
8. Participate in an on-call rotation to provide support for critical production issues.
Key Skills
1. In-depth knowledge of one or more cloud platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
2.
Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates, which enable them to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources.
3. Understanding of networking concepts and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and firewalls.
4. Understanding of security best practices and be able to implement secure cloud-based solutions that meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
5. Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef, which enable them to automate repetitive tasks and streamline operations.
6. Programming skills in one or more languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
7. Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, which enable them to deploy and manage containerized applications in the cloud.
8. Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, or ELK, which enable them to monitor and troubleshoot cloud-based solutions.
9. Understanding of DevOps principles and practices, including continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD)
