A Power Plant/DM (Demineralization) Plant Chemist is responsible for managing water, steam, and fuel quality. They perform chemical analyses to prevent equipment corrosion and scaling, ensure optimal boiler efficiency, and oversee daily plant operations within your region. [1, 2, 3, 4] Key Responsibilities 1. DM Plant Operations & Water Chemistry

- Water Treatment: Monitor and operate the DM plant, including the regeneration of cation, anion, and mixed-bed resin exchangers.
- Quality Testing: Analyze raw water, boiler feedwater, condensate, and cooling water for critical parameters like pH, conductivity, silica, chloride, and total hardness.
- Chemical Dosing: Manage the dosing of chemicals (e.g., ammonia, hydrazine) to maintain strict water quality standards. [1, 2, 3]

2. Fuel & Oil Analysis
- Coal Testing: Perform proximate and ultimate analyses of coal and other fuels to determine moisture, ash content, and calorific value.
- Lubricants: Test and monitor the life, viscosity,



and contamination of turbine and machinery lube oils. [1, 2]

3. Environmental & Lab Management
- Emission Control: Monitor exhaust gases and effluents to ensure compliance with local pollution and environmental standards.
- Safety & Standards: Maintain laboratory safety protocols, calibrate testing equipment, and properly store chemical reagents. [1, 2, 3]

Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Chemistry, or a B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering.
- Experience: Typically 5+ years in thermal power plants or related steel manufacturing and utility plants in the Chhattisgarh region.
- Skills: Robust analytical chemistry skills, proficiency with DCS systems, and a deep understanding of boiler water chemistry. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
