Who Are We?

At HyPrix, we're building supersonic payload delivery systems for autonomy. Things flying faster than the speed of sound - we are enabling them with cheap hardware. Replicating the capabilities of expensive conventional frontline systems - we are building micro missiles for mass manufacturability with unit economics in 5 digits. Built for a war of attrition, build for the era of software defined warfare, built to cater to the front lines of battlefields - where no man should stand in the future.

About the role

This role is both hands-on and strategic: as the Flight Software Lead Engineer, you will write low-level firmware and high-level system software and architect end-to-end embedded stack for our robotics/flight systems. Your work will enable our autonomy software to run and finish the mission critical success parameters.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping how our embedded platform scales, ensuring reliability from board-bring-up to mission execution, and driving best practices in debugging, system design, and firmware delivery across the product lifecycle. You will also mentor and elevate our existing firmware engineers.

Qualifications: 6+ years of embedded firmware & software development experience (strong individual contributor track record).

Core Responsibilities

1. System Architecture & Design

- Architect robust, scalable embedded system and firmware frameworks from sensor interfaces to real-time control loops and system services.

- Define module boundaries, abstraction layers,

and interaction contracts between components.

- Analyze design trade offs, optimization, performance planning, etc.

2. Hands-On Firmware & Software Development

- Develop bare-metal firmware in C/C++, Build and maintain low-level drivers (GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, ADC, timers, PWM), Integrate multi-modal sensing (IMU, barometers, GNSS, telemetry, actuators, etc).

- Proven experience taking custom boards from power-on to application-level firmware, MCU/SoC startup sequences, reset behavior, memory initialization, and low-level debug techniques using JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and low-level register inspection.

- Implement performance and reliability features: watchdog strategy, fault handling, telemetry/diagnostics hooks, timing instrumentation, memory/stack analysis, CPU load measurement, and latency profiling (RTOS, memory, interrupts, peripherals).

1. System Level Validation

- Establish CI/CD pipelines for firmware builds, testing, integration, and automated regression.

- Define code quality guidelines, static analysis, test coverage, documentation standards, debugging standards, workflows, etc.

- Design and execute system validation and verification plans,

including unit, integration, HIL, and field tests.

1. Cross-Functional collaboration

- Lead technical planning, sprint/roadmap sessions, and design reviews.

- Work closely with hardware, systems, controls, QA, product, and operations teams to align requirements, architecture, and schedules.

- Liaise with external partners/vendors when bringing up boards, sensors, communication modules, or integrating third-party IP.

- Mentor junior and mid-level firmware engineers in system design, debugging strategy, testing discipline, and best practices.

Required Qualifications

- Experience with flight control stacks or robotics embedded stacks (PX4, ROS interfacing, autopilots, etc.) is key.

- Experience integrating with control algorithms, sensor fusion, navigation stacks.

- Natural mentor with an ability to grow junior engineers.

- Excellent communicator capable of aligning cross-functional teams.

- Familiarity with safety or aerospace/military standards (e.g., MISRA, DO-178C, ISO 26262, STANAG).

Should you really join us?

If you like learning, if you like figuring things out by yourself without others telling you how to do it - and thrive under work pressure to ship missiles - then this is for you. Join us to take ownership of your work. We are a lean team - there is no rule book to what we're doing. You have an end goal - which is based on a real product - and you need to get it done your own way. It's hard, and we all love it here.
