Job Summary

The Access Control System (ACS) Engineer / Administrator is responsible for the implementation, operation, maintenance, and support of enterprise-wide physical access control systems. The role ensures secure, compliant, and highly available access management across offices, ODCs, and restricted facilities while aligning with organizational security and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Access Control Operations &

- Administration

- Administer and manage Access Control Systems, including cardholder lifecycle management (creation, modification, and deactivation).

- Configure access levels, access groups, schedules, and door permissions as per security policies.

- Manage credential technologies such as RFID cards, biometric credentials, mobile credentials, and PINs.

- Ensure timely and accurate access provisioning and de-provisioning aligned with HR and identity management workflows.

System Implementation &
- Integration

- Support implementation and commissioning of access control hardware, including controllers, readers, biometric devices, turnstiles, and door hardware.

- Integrate ACS with Identity Management systems, HR systems, Visitor Management Systems, CCTV/VMS, fire alarm systems, and building management systems.

- Participate in design reviews, technical evaluations, and vendor/OEM coordination for recent deployments and modernization projects.

Monitoring, Troubleshooting &
- Support

- Monitor system health, logs, alarms, and events to ensure high system availability.

- Troubleshoot ACS application, controller, network, and device-level issues.

- Provide L2/L3 support for incidents, outages, and access-related issues within SLA timelines.

- Coordinate with OEMs and system integrators/vendors for defect resolution and system upgrades.

Security, Compliance &
- Audit

- Ensure access control operations comply with internal security policies and statutory requirements.

- Maintain logs, audit trails,



and reports for investigations, audits, and compliance reviews.

- Support periodic access reviews and certification activities.

- Ensure fail-safe and life-safety compliance for emergency exits and fire alarm integrations.

Change &
- Release Management

- Raise and execute Change Management Requests (CMRs) for ACS configuration changes, upgrades, and deployments.

- Perform risk assessments, rollback planning, and post-change validation.

- Coordinate with stakeholders for planned downtime and maintenance activities.

Documentation &
- Knowledge Transfer

- Maintain SOPs, system architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.

- Support Knowledge Transfer (KT) sessions for operations and support teams.

- Prepare technical documentation for audits, handovers, and vendor engagements.

Required Technical Skills &
- Competencies

- Strong knowledge of enterprise-grade Access Control Systems (ACS platforms).

- Hands-on experience with controllers, readers, biometric devices, turnstiles, and exit systems.

- Understanding of ACS communication protocols such as OSDP and Wiegand.

- Experience with system integrations using APIs or middleware.

- Good understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, VLANs, and firewalls relevant to ACS.

- Familiarity with databases, logs, and reporting tools.

- Knowledge of security best practices, compliance standards, and physical security frameworks.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

- Process-oriented mindset with strong documentation practices.

- Ability to work in 24x7 operational environments, if required.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics, or related field.

- Relevant certifications in Access Control Systems, Physical Security, or Networking are preferred.

- Experience working with enterprise security environments and vendor management.
