OBJECTIVE
To provide the customer with a secure and comfortable environment by assisting the Chief Engineer in ongoing preventative maintenance programs and ensuring that all mechanical systems are operating in accordance with the standards of Hotel.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Assist the Chief Engineer in the development of preventative maintenance plans.
- Makes preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment in the mechanical plant as well as for that of other departments such as laundry, kitchen, swimming pool, etc.
- Complete preventative maintenance schedules for equipment in the major plant including Chiller, VRFs, cooling towers, air conditioning units and fans, pumps, automatic control systems, etc.
- Ensures that all equipment is operated effectively by directing and supervising the operation of all running equipment.
- Maintains routine reports by recording daily meter readings and interpreting daily log sheets.
- Keeps Chief Engineer closely informed of anything that could indicate malfunctions.
- Detects when plant or equipment needs repair,
or when it is not economically justifiable to repair, by closely monitoring repair history of all major equipment.
- Ensures that all applicable requirements are being complied with by maintaining contact with local authorities such as fire brigade, electricity suppliers and the Health Department.
- Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the operation of the department and/or hotel whenever possible by making suggestions to the Chief Engineer.
- Attends relevant training to remain current on proper techniques.
- Maintains a protected and secure environment for customers and employees.
- Ensures that all employees follow safety rules and emergency procedures.
- Takes corrective action where required to improve safety of work area.
- Utilizes leadership skills and motivation techniques in order to maximize employee productivity and satisfaction of direct reports.
