The Lead – Insurance is responsible for designing and managing the organization's end-to-end insurance and risk transfer strategy across manufacturing plants and corporate operations. The role involves structuring insurance and reinsurance programs, driving cost-effective renewals, ensuring robust claims management, and building solid relationships with insurers, reinsurers and brokers, while working closely with the CFO and cross-functional teams (Legal, Procurement, Plant Finance) to align risk management with corporate financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Insurance & Reinsurance Strategy
- Design and implement the organization's overall insurance program covering property, liability, marine, employee benefits and project-specific risks across plants and Head Office.
- Structure reinsurance arrangements (proportional and non-proportional/facultative and treaty)
in coordination with reinsurers to optimize risk transfer and capital efficiency.
- Evaluate risk portfolios periodically and recommend coverage enhancements or cost-optimization opportunities.
2. Renewals, Negotiations & Cost Optimization
- Lead the annual renewal cycle for all insurance policies, negotiating with brokers and insurers/reinsurers to secure competitive terms.
- Drive reduction in premium costs while maintaining or improving coverage adequacy.
- Run structured RFP processes for insurance placements, ensuring layered coverage programs that balance risk retention and transfer.
3. Claims Management
- Oversee end-to-end claims processes across property, liability, marine and group health/employee benefit policies.
- Ensure timely, equitable claim settlements through proactive coordination with insurers, reinsurers and third-party administrators.
