Role Purpose
The Director – School of Business and Commerce shall provide academic and operational leadership for the School, ensuring excellence in teaching, student outcomes, faculty performance, industry engagement, research contribution, and regulatory compliance. The role is responsible for translating the strategic vision of the Dean into actionable academic and administrative initiatives while driving continuous improvement in academic quality, student success, and institutional growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Academic Administration & Program Management
- Oversee the effective delivery of all academic programs within the School.
- Ensure adherence to academic regulations, policies, and quality standards.
- Monitor academic calendars, course delivery, examinations, and student progression.
- Support curriculum implementation and continuous academic improvement initiatives.
2. Faculty Leadership & Performance Management
- Lead and supervise faculty members within the School.
- Monitor faculty workload, teaching effectiveness, academic engagement, and performance.
- Support faculty development through mentoring, training, and capability-building initiatives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and academic excellence.
3. Student Success & Academic Experience
- Monitor student performance, attendance, retention, and progression.
- Drive initiatives to improve student satisfaction, engagement, and learning outcomes.
- Address student academic concerns in coordination with faculty and administrative teams.
- Promote mentoring, career readiness, and holistic student development.

Industry Engagement & Employability
- Strengthen relationships with industry partners, professional bodies, and corporate organizations.
- Facilitate internships, live projects, guest lectures, industrial visits, and experiential learning opportunities.
- Support placement and employability initiatives in collaboration with relevant departments.
- Encourage industry participation in curriculum enrichment and student development activities.
5. Research & Academic Development
- Promote research, publications, consultancy, and innovation within the School.
- Encourage faculty participation in funded research projects, conferences, and scholarly activities.
- Support interdisciplinary collaboration and research initiatives aligned with institutional priorities.
- Work closely with the Dean – Research and Dean – School of Management on research-related goals.
6. Quality Assurance & Accreditation
- Ensure compliance with UGC, AICTE, NAAC, NIRF, and other applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Maintain academic records, reports, and documentation required for audits and accreditation exercises.
- Drive quality enhancement initiatives and continuous improvement processes across the School.
7. Admissions & Outreach
- Support student recruitment, admissions activities,
and outreach initiatives.
- Participate in academic promotion, counseling sessions, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Contribute to strategies aimed at improving student quality and enrollment outcomes.
8. Resource & Operational Management
- Ensure effective utilization of faculty, infrastructure, laboratories, and academic resources.
- Monitor operational efficiency and administrative effectiveness within the School.
- Support budgeting and resource planning activities as directed by the Dean.
9. Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, students, industry partners, and administrative offices.
- Facilitate communication between School leadership and various stakeholders.
- Represent the School in academic, professional, and institutional forums as required.
10. Strategic Execution
- Support the Dean in implementing the School's strategic objectives and growth plans.
- Monitor key academic and operational performance indicators.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, program enhancement, and institutional development.
Qualification & Experience
- Ph.D. in Management, Commerce, Economics, or a related discipline from a recognized University.
- Minimum 12–15 years of experience in teaching, academic administration, and leadership roles within higher education.
- Demonstrated experience in academic operations, faculty management, student engagement, accreditation, and institutional development.
- Robust understanding of higher education regulations, quality assurance frameworks, and business education trends.
