? VFX Artist – Remote Unpaid Volunteer / Internship
WorkshopEdge is an early-stage software startup focused on building cutting-edge digital products and game development projects. Our remote team works on creative and interactive experiences while providing aspiring professionals with real-world experience and opportunities to build their portfolios.
We are looking for a VFX Artist to join our game development team and work on our upcoming Egyptian-inspired action game.

Responsibilities
• Create visual effects for combat, abilities, environments, and gameplay
• Create effects for weapons, attacks, impacts, projectiles, explosions, and special abilities
• Create enemy and boss attack effects, abilities, transformations, and major encounter effects
• Develop environmental effects such as dust, sand, smoke, fire, wind, debris, and atmospheric effects
• Create hit effects, damage effects, weapon trails, sparks, and other gameplay feedback
• Create VFX for boss introductions, major story events, discoveries, and cinematic sequences




• Develop VFX that match the game's Egyptian-inspired visual style and atmosphere
• Implement and integrate VFX into Unreal Engine
• Collaborate with game designers, 3D artists, animators, programmers, and level designers
• Polish and improve VFX based on gameplay and creative feedback

Requirements
• Strong interest in VFX, game development, and real-time visual effects
• Basic understanding of visual effects principles, timing, motion, and visual impact
• Familiarity with Unreal Engine Niagara, Blender, Houdini, Maya, or similar tools
• Understanding of particles, materials, shaders, and basic VFX workflows
• Interest in creating combat, environmental, and gameplay effects
• Ability to understand and follow a visual style
• Portfolio or personal VFX projects are welcome
• Unreal Engine experience is a plus, but not mandatory
• Beginners are encouraged to apply
